Password Protected Word Document

Hi,

I need to open a password protected word document but have no idea what the password could be.
I've done some searching & it seems older versions of Word are easy to get around, but in newer versions (such as this one) it appears that brute force is the only way to work it out.
I have tried a free one that runs locally & none of the simple combinations or libraries work.
There are quite a few websites offering these services (presumably running them through incredibly powerful systems) but of course how do you find one you can trust?
Anyway had any experience with this (or recommendations)?
Cheers, Gary.

  • Forget it, unless you strike it lucky and the password is password or some dumb combination, brute force will take you months or years to crack

  • Hit enter, might not even be a password.
That's how I protect documents that I don't really care about protecting.

  • Do you know who set the password? That may give you a clue.
