Giving a gift voucher for flights

Hi all,

I want to give someone a large gift voucher to be used for flights.

I tried to do this through Qantas directly, however the process turned out to be a complete nightmare (I won't go into details, but the level of incompetence has been mind boggling).

I notice that travel agents can provide gift vouchers, but is there a smarter way to give someone a voucher so that they will get the maximum value from them - eg be able to take advantage of sales, different airlines, etc? We're talking an amount that should get two people overseas so I don't want it to be wasted.

Cheers guys!

Cash, a prepaid VISA/Mastercard, or a home made voucher saying I will pay for the flights you want up to $xxxx.
Any other option ties you to a specific travel agent or airline.

    • Yeah… I had considered that. Kinda boring but it achieves the goal I guess :)

  • I know flight centre do gift cards. Can do all the booking yourself online (no experience doing this myself)

  • I agree with MsKellogs, prepaid card is much better as with absolute certainty you will be lacking in much value if they are stuck on one airline. Too many options and sales that come up and there is no sinlge solution except a prepaid debit card.
