I want to use my mobile to send downloaded movies to a tv via hdmi lead. I believe a Samsung S5 can.. Does anyone know of other mobiles which can do this. Anyone tried and succeeded, I want to do this while travelling without internet access.

I know there are micro-USB to HDMI cables that allow a direct connection to an HDMI cable - my LG G3 does it.
Note that this is probably going to generate alot of heat - so keeping the phone cool is critical.
I do this with my Samsung Note 3, mine also needs to be connected to USB for power…. can probably take off the TV or use your phone charger.

What about screen casting via a cheap google chromecast?
edit: chromecast needs a wifi connection so I'd imagine that you'd been able to cast via hotspot, but i'd probably double check on that
