A general question to the OzB community…When you buy stuff off eBay is the general consensus to go via the CashRewards portal (i.e. get the 1.25% cash back or whatever the going % rate is) or go via the Qantas Mall and get 1 point per $?
Or is it dependent upon the personal value placed upon the points vs the % cash back?
FWIW, I do both. But can't really quantify why I choose one over the other.

I think this has been discussed before here. If I remember correctly, I think the conclusion was that normal circumstances, cashrewards. But sometimes Qantas Mall has bonus points offers, which may just tip the scale. But like battler said, the difference is very very small.

Qantas 1 point is worth how much to you? (This rate will vary depending on what you spend your qantas points on Flights/gift cards)
If that is more than 1.25% that you get back from cash rewards
Buy it through cashrewards, pay for it with a card that earns Qantas points :)
But that's not the question.. because you can get an additional Qantas point by going via Qantas Mall.
Personally, I would be inclined to use what Love a bargain just recommended. i.e. Go via Velocity eStore for 2pts/$ instead of 1 QFF pt per $ or Cash Rewards.
