How Do You Clean Left over Uninstall Files?

As the title says. Also, do you just CTRL+Delete Setup files? I assume after installing the program the setup files you initially download isn't needed anymore.

Installation packages don't remove themselves after installing. This means the user needs to delete it manually.

For a cleaner install, you should try a package manager such as Chocolatey or Ninite

If you're using a Linux OS you're probably already using apt-get and using autoremove or autoclean.

    • +1 Chocolatey.

Revo Uninstaller is good for removing the left over files. It'll use the application's inbuilt uninstaller and then scan for left over files/folders and registry items. Then you can choose what to remove. It can also be used to remove applications with uninstallers or won't uninstall properly.

    • +1 revo. in true ozbargain spirit, i find it's very reliable when trial software has expired and i need to well… remove the application and reinstall it as trial software again.

choco is great, but my one gripe is the difficulty in configuring the installation path.

relative to linux, windows does such a horrible job when it comes to cleaning up the debris left behind by software installs. it would make the worst housekeeper imaginable.
