Genuine Replacement Battery for Xiaomi Redmi Note 2?

Does anyone know where to buy genuine replacement batteries for Xiaomi phones? I have a Redmi Note 2 which I'm still very happy with, only issue is I think the battery is starting to wear a bit and doesn't hold charge as well as when it was new. Given the Redmi Note 2 has an easily replaceable battery I thought it may be worth trying.

It's easy to find non-original batteries on eBay/AliExpress, but I'm struggling to find original genuine batteries from somewhere I trust.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
Luke

  • Yeah, I'm in the same boat. My battery is so expanded that it's almost double the thickness and can be felt through it's own case as well as a thicker rubber case. I really should get the battery replaced

    • +1

You should stop using that immediately. They can vent at any time and you don't want that to happen while that's in your pocket.

*EDIT: noted under specifications its says "Quality: original battery core made by unofficial factory" which sounds contradictory. Maybe message them for clarification.
Have seen these guys mentioned many times in forums as the go to for OEM parts. For instance it's the only place I have seen the MI5 ceramic back for sale.

  • Wow, coincidence. I had just drafted the same question to post here.

Last December my phone's battery started bulging. I immediately placed an order with a seller on AliExpress who seemed to specialise in batteries, claimed they sold original Xiaomis, and had good feedback. Unfortunately they didn't send it for a long time, then claimed they sent it but gave me a fake tracking number, and finally I got a refund after they didn't respond to the dispute process.

Now I'm back at the start again and looking for a reliable seller. Most places like Banggood and Gearbest no longer have it listed or show it as sold out. There are a few stores on eBay who don't have great feedback or who sell sell dodgy third-party batteries.

The battery is model number BM45 for for a Redmi Note 2 Prime.
I hope someone else can suggest a good seller. That "original battery core made by unofficial factory" from Dragon sounds very dubious!

  • Okay, I've taken a chance and ordered one from a Spanish seller on eBay for about $20.

Shipping is faster than most other sellers I've seen which is a big plus (10-20 days). As @scrimshaw says it's not a good idea to continue using the phone with a bulging battery, but I don't have much choice until I can get a replacement.

    • Please post an update on how you go with it, and if you think it's genuine.

      Thanks

      • I just got a message:

        Good afternoon,
The reason for this message is to inform you that it is not possible sending of your order, the batteries can not be sent by air transport.
We will cancel your order and refund the amount of your purchase.
        Sorry what happened.

Starting to run out of options here!

        • I've now ordered a Nohon brand battery from Ali Express.
$16 for the battery, $41 for DHL shipping!!

It was a toss-up between that and getting a new phone.

        • @Dacs:
          Ouch, not cheap.

          Luke

        • @Dacs:
The Nohon battery arrived 20 days after ordering.
Delivery was terrible: It was supposed to be couriered with DHL but the tracking number wasn't recognised by them and it ended up being delivered by Australia Post (actually me having to collected it from the post office) in spite of the fact that Australia Post don't handle batteries. I assume that DHL delivered it part of the way then handed it over to Australia post as they often seem to do.

The battery itself looked very well packaged and manufactured and seems to work okay.

  • I'm in the same boat - it seems the postage for these is difficult.

    The options I see are

$18.99 shipped via UBI Smart Parcel (1 - 2 weeks)
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/GENUINE-OEM-Backup-Replacement-Ba…

$13.86 shipped from China to Netherlands, then Netherlands to Australia (up to 1 month)
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Genuine-Battery-3020Mah-Replaceme…

≈$10 shipped from China (up to 45 days)
    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Allparts-TESTED-BM45-3020mAh…

Any thoughts on the options above?
