How much to pay for new Honda Civic VTI?

Hi everyone,
So I am in the market for a new car and like the new Subaru Impreza and Civic. Budget is 24k . I love the Impreza more but the dealers don't seem as willing to do a deal which puts it out of my price range.

So how much should I try to haggle down a new Civic base VTI to ( 2016 built registered 2017)? Honda's RRP is $24999.

Also can someone help me understand why the RRP is so high. Most of the car reviews say its $22,390, I assume before on road costs, but even with rego ($787.40) motor vehicle duty fee(~700) and transer fee (19.50) that should only come to around $23,900……so am I paying for dealer delivery fees or have i got it wrong?

Thanks

  • When I moved from the US, I was a little shocked to see the state of Honda here. There they are no 1 or 2 in many segments (Accord, Civic and CR-V).

But here they are lagging and their dealerships are horrible too. They dont have any good transparent sales which is sad as they have better quality than most.

Anyways coming to your question, you should use this as a guide.

So I would say anywhere between $23,500 to $24000 is a good price especially since this is MY16.
On the other hand, is there a chance that Honda may have a plate clearance sale anytime soon?

Yes difference will be dealer delivery fees.
Search whirlpool forums, there's a thread on the 2016 Civic and looks like someone there may have picked one up for 22k drive away being 2016 (not sure if you can trust it though)

  • I got almost 10% discount from RRP by going through AutoGenie on VTI-LX, for $49, you will get fleet pricing. I put my deposit down last Friday, pick up next month (car still on the boat). Price came up to be $1500-$200 cheaper that the quotes I was getting from local dealers.

I was able to get MY16 VTI-S $25,200 with metallic paint, if that's any indication on the amount of discount you should be looking to get. (NSW)

Thank you all for your comments!

So I finally signed for a new civiv VTI with tinted windows and metallic paint for $23500 with the Honda sale (gives 5 year warranty).
