Free Online Courses from Ivy League Universities

Moved to Forum: Original Link

Got this from Medium / FreeCodeCamp. Intro courses from reputable universities on Computer Science, Humanities, Social Sciences, Art, Music, Law, Business & Management, etc, etc.

Quality wise, these should be at least on par with the Udemy courses?

No idea about the expiry date, whether this should be Deal or a Forum post.

Happy hoarding learning.

    There are always free…

  • Can u check this or udemy on a resume?

Seems that the free option allows you to "audit" the course, where you get to view the materials and classes.

And paid options ( individual courses or monthly subscriptions ) provide grades and certificates - maybe someone who has tried the paid option can provide some insight.

For example, the Entrepreneurship Specialisation (a group of 5 courses from wharton via coursera) is here

Whether employers treat these as qualifications is, of course, very subjective.

Yeah, "I did some stuff on a website" isn't the greatest qualification.

        • Well, a certificate from these should be at least slightly better than the typical "anyone-can-create-Udemy-course" as they are conducted by academics from Ivy League universities.

That being said, I haven't gone through any of these, so I'm just speculating based on the reputation of the universities.

And certification is a paid option.

Maybe under personal developments. Doubt this will make you qualified.

      • True, many of these are intro courses. Finishing a intro course merely means a person is interested in the subject.

Might want to check out edx as well: https://www.edx.org/ I /think/ they actually have some legit certificates you can get (like exams done under exam conditions when using the paid version?).

I actually really enjoy https://www.udacity.com as well, I know they're not ivy league but I /think/ some of the people on there work for google any other areas?

As people say probably not useful in a /can it be used like a certificate or degree/ sort of thing, but if a certain job requires a certain skill (like basic android development, or libgdx or similar) I think they work great.
