AVOID FISHPOND.com.au

Absolutely useless website. Ordered Microsoft points on 9th of July. Items expected to ship "within 8-15 days". After three weeks I email support and they tell me they have no stock but "expect" me to get it by 26 July.

today I get another email saying there is no stock again and they "expect" to deliver it to my house by the 11th of AUGUST! This is not even a definite delivery date.

Over a month just on the promise to deliver some Xbox points. Absolutely ridiculous. And I know I'm not the one, check the thread below.
I've ordered items on Ebay from the US (Roomba) that have taken only 7 days to arrive.

For normal items they may be ok, but avoid fishpond for future "bargains".

Making you aware of my customer experience.

  • I completely agree, I waited 8 weeks for my university textbook, by the time it arrived I was just about to start my exams! Fishpond's estimated delivery times are overly exaggerated, rather pay a bit more for a better customer experience.

Will never order with them again.

  • get your refund and order from bookdepository. Its faultless, seriously

I dont think anything that i've ordered has taken over 2 weeks to arrive, most has been 8 days for me.

  • hey peter, glad to know you've had a similar experience on a different product so its not an isolated issue.

I'll be letting other ozbargainers know if future fishpond links appear on this site.

  • Holy crap, thanks for the heads up, it just reminded me that I also bought some points around that time and am still yet to get them…. Time for me to give fishpond on furious email.

  • My sister ordered her textbook on tuesday 10am, arrived Friday morning.. Pretty good delivery times

  • i saw halo reach: legendary edition (360) on thier site for $1000 on a pre order, not even ebay sellers taking a pre order are selling it for over $400, that was enough to put me off the site

  • I bought an Xbox live sub from them as well, about a month later I got an email saying they were unavailable and I'd be getting a refund. Was extremely lame.

  • They should be banned from this site, I also bought an xbox live card because it seemed like a pretty good price, three weeks after I paid they sent me an email saying they have no stock and all the orders for the product had been cancelled, they offered to sell me a card at a highly inflated price - the promotion didn't exist!

I WOULD NOT BUY FROM FISHPOND. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<

    • When did you buy?
Cause I've received an email saying the order will be delayed, but they haven't cancelled it yet or offered it to me at a higher price.

I bought Final Fantasy 13 from them for 89 i believe, however it took ages for them to send it out, it was out of stock so i had to email them to have it cancelled and i went to JB to get it instead.

Fast forward a month later, i received the game in my mailbox. Rushed to check my bank account to ensure i didnt get charged for it. So yeah, I wont buy from fishpond anymore, but no hate on them lol. Thanks for the free game fishpond!

  • I bought XBL points from them a few months back, turned up about a week later, no problem.

  • I've bought twice from Fishpond, both times for MS Points and didn't have any probs. That was well over 6 months ago and when I run out of points, I'll probably buy from them again.

  • I have never had a problem with FISHPOND but I have heard some people that have. All good for me tho :)

  • I bought from them once, took a long time for my books to turn up. bookdepository.com and bookdepository.co.uk are great.

  • I had to deactivate the email address associated with my Fishpond account, due to spam levels.

    • yep, they on-sell/share your email address. I ended up getting proper spam (you know the member enlargement type stuff) on the email address I exclusively gave to fishpond.

This is disgusting behaviour for an Australian retail site. Everyone, get your brooms.

They're actually a NZ company with a warehouse in Australia (I think either Perth or Brisbane) IIRC

          • @Trance N Dance: This probably explains when you try and use AMEX it wants to convert it to $NZ.

          • @Trance N Dance: Are the consumer expectations in NZ that much lower than here?

            • @Tenebrae: In a word, yes.

Companies there have a fairly captive audience, so they hump them for all the're worth. That's why so many of them escape to the West Island.

@stumo: Good heavens. I think it's high time we "liberated" our eighth state from their cruel, strange-speaking taskmasters once and for all.

  • I've also found them to be very dodgy with their pricing on Lego products. They often list products significantly above RRP and then "heavily discount" them down to give an appearance of a huge saving when in reality you are usually paying RRP or slightly below.

A current example of this is the Death Star set which sells for $699 from the lego online shop. Fishpond are advertising it as $649 down from $799.99 saving $150.99 (21%) when in reality you are saving $50 or about 8%.

I'd avoid them like the plague.

  • We do apologise for any delays you have experienced with purchasing the Xbox 360 Genuine Live 1500 Microsoft Points Card or Xbox 360 Genuine Live 3000 Microsoft Points Card from us.

When we had promotional prices of $19.97 and $39.99 respectively for these items on our site, we experienced delays with our Australian supplier, who did not send the numbers of these Points Cards that we were expecting. This did lead to some delays in orders and resulted in us re-ordering from an alternate supplier.  We realise that any supply issues we may have, does not matter to you, as our customers, but please be assured that we did everything we could to get the product as quickly as we could.  We probably under estimated the demand for this particular product at the price we offered.

We are happy to match that price right now for anyone who placed an order and did not receive the product. Please quote this post when you contact us.

In regards to RRP on our lego product, it is often difficult to obtain local RRPs for some of the rarer lego products that we sell, but we do our best.  We apologise if in the case of the Death Star the savings were overstated, but I guess the positive thing is that we are still selling it $50 below the Lego store itself - and we believe that our price is the best in Australia.

We are happy to work to resolve any issue or reply to any question our customers have both now and in the future, and we will pass on any suggestions. We can be contacted by email on www.fishpond.com.au/contact_us.php. We are also on Facebook and Twitter.

  • Never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever buy anything from Fishpond.com.au. Purchased Xbox 360 Ghost Recon Future Soldier and i am still waiting for it to arrive. Has been over a month now.

  • i have tried to purchase a set of d.v.d.'s from these clowns….THREE TIMES. - and they have cancelled the purchase each time without telling me they had or why. I finally got a partial answer…their fraud section flagged my purchase…no details, no checking,no explanation and no real reason . My card is valid, enough credit, consistent with my billing address etc.
Just dont bother with them, seriously.
