  apart from this post, do you know the best (& cheap) way to secure flight from San Francisco to Melbourne ( return) ? by chance

  One of my family member planning, but return flights is around 1300-1700$ minimum :(

    use momondo or iwtf - there are a few sales on at the moment where you should be able to get $1000 return

    however it also depends on the dates as peak season will always be $$$$$

    Doesn't seem to be a stop in HK for East coast departures. I didn't check them all but Sydney is just via Auckland.

      East coast flights are on Air NZ, the Perth flights are on Singapore Air, via SIN and HK
