This is frustrating - the number of points I needed to upgrade my return ticket in April has jumped from 144k to 180k. Was not very likely anyway because of my status, but I've just gone for an exit row seat instead.
Having said that, this is for upgrades and not outright redemptions. So if you have a little work flexibility and can book quite a few months in ahead, you're now better off aiming for that secured business redemption seat.
