Microsoft Surface Pro or 2-in-1 Laptop?

Hi, need some help please

Im after a portable windows device for Uni work, it needs to have a 12" or bigger screen (for typing shit) and be convertible to tablet (for reading shit) it'll be used mostly for word processing and web browsing

So ive found the Surface Pro 3 / 4 which ticks those boxes but I dont know if there are better / cheaper tablets or 2-in-1 laptops out there

Please recommend me anything that you think will work. It doesnt need to be new as long as it wont break the bank!

go the surface pro. Perfect for typing shit

    • seems that the Surface is getting the votes

I just found a refurb Pro 3, i3 processor with 64Gb for $449 inc keyboard online

      Reckon its a good buy?

      • that's a good buy but is it 4GB 8GB or 16GB
refurbs can be dodgy with touch screens, still, if its one of the higher spec'd ones, guess its worth a gamble

        • so this was 3 months ago, funny story

I found a SP3 i5 model with keyboard case on eBay for $500, pretty solid deal, so I bought it. SP3 arrived a few days later, in one of those Australia post padded bags, no box or bubble wrap. Im like "oh shit". Anyway, no dents and screen was good. It powers on fine from sleep mode, so I have a play with it, all looks nice. I turn it off. A bit later turn it back on.. doesn't turn on… fffffffuuuuu

Anyway, returned to seller who was a PITA to deal with, got a refund from eBay. 1 more dodgy laptop (refurb) later and a SP4 and I am now happy with my 2nd hand MacBook Pro.

worst thing about 2nd hand surface pro (if they work) I found iffy battery life, you're lucky if its 3 hours or more
