TRS - Tax Invoice with Name but No Address Okay?

Wife purchased something over $1000 with the intent to claim TRS, shop assistant put her name on the tax invoice and said address not necessary.

I remember reading that both name and address are required for invoices over $1000. Is it still the case?

"Tax invoices of AUD 1000 or more in value must contain your identity (name, address, email or passport number). Contact the retailer and request a new tax invoice if this information is missing, as the tax invoice will be rejected at the TRS facility without this information."

  • Thanks for the link. Although a hassle but several hundred dollars are at stake so she will go back to ask for a new receipt, she must go back to ask for a new receipt.

    • If several hundred dollars are af stake and she's planning on not leaving the item permanently overseas then chances are she'll have to pay the GST back upon return anyway

      • They goods are not to be re-entered.
