Acer Aspire Vx5-591g Vx15? Help!

I dont normally buy laptops but recently ive the need to purchase one and ive been reading around online trying to find something i like. Before i go ahead and make a purchase the 2 laptops i am interested in are the new dell xps 15 or this Acer vx5-591g ( vx15 ) which i cant find any information about for aussie buyers. The dell inspiron 15 7000 was also promising until i found out about the horrible tn panel.

I dont normally follow how laptops vary from region to region but all the info i have read on the acer seems to be from the states and no mention if this particular laptop will be sold here/when/if and how much.

Can someone who knows laptops guide me on if i should wait for more information regarding the acer vx15 or just pull the trigger on the dell xps 15 when i see a good deal. I have a 2 month window to find a new laptop so i am in no rush.

Thank you for any help!

  • I would take the dell over the acer any day of the week, although its a personal perference
Horrible TN panel is based on what you read, for a basic machine its more than good enough, most likely whingers who have to nitpick at a laptop under a certain price but have high expectations

What about Lenovo, I have the E560 and got it for under 1000 bucks with 3 year warranty (1+2 year extended) and 16gb of Ram
Have been quite happy alhough it is a heavier laptop

    • I'm liking the dell a lot more as well, but i can't dismiss the ACER vx15 just yet simply because i don't even know if it's an option or ever will be, not to mention the price. I will be working with 3d renders and photoshop so i kind of need a decent screen.

With desktops is easy because you just buy your parts and build it the way you want, but since i know nothing about laptops and how they are released i don't know if I'm wasting time on models that seem to be released overseas but i can't buy them in Australia.

  • I agree with the above to look at Lenovo E470 or E560. If you want to spend more then X1 Carbon or X1 Yoga are good too, but it sounds like you might want something with dedicated graphics.

    • I do want a dedicated GPU hopefully one that is pascal, to help with 3d work renders. I'll check all the models you mentioned.

I was hoping for some info regarding this Acer vx15 because it comes with a GTX 1050 Ti version, if i can quickly dismiss that model as a no chance i can just go ahead with the dell XPS 15.
