Huawei phones buying over in Asia

Just brought a Huawei phone Honor 5A over in China and can't believe the price difference, I got mine for about $100 AUD but on ebay they charge about $179 free shipping.

My Wife has a iphone 7 plus 128gb and when comparing both phone, you can't compare but this phone being like 13 times cheaper does the job for what I'm doing.

We seem to be getting ripped off in oz, a very similar phone, when I was in officeworks was selling it for $327, I'm like wow got mine for a bargain so if you ever in asia and need a back up phone or something you need for a very good smartphone that you can gamble on losing, I recommend this phone. The deal breaker was for me to use the FM Radio which you don't use in other phones because you have to chew up internet data.

Your thought with how Huawei are going, they are sitting in 3rd spot but really trying to get the low, medium and high end markets and looking to take over Apple within 2 years and 4 years over Samsung.

  • Aware of counterfeiting products from China.Your phone may last less then 12 months.
Myself prefer purchase Huawei phone in Australia.

    • Yes that could happen as well but brought it from a legit store, its amazing the Chinese market and their phone. Vivo and Oppo are doing doing very well, both their phones are around the $500 to $750 AUD but they are the clear winners. Samsung I hardly see their phone in this market any more and both Hauwei and Apple are doing steady but we'll be seeing Vivo and Oppo coming into this market as time goes by.

      • +1

Purchased my first Huawei phone in 2013,it was a p6,paid around $360 in JB hi fi on sale just after its first release in Australia, befor thay I had a galaxy s2.
I was really happy about the phone especially for $360.
Like you,I opened up a thread to tell people how good this phone is(Huawei only had lower end product prior to p6,)
most people replying tell me I'm a Huawei sales which Im not,and say it's a shit phone, don't buy it,get iphone etc..
I knew it's not the same as iphone, but it was cheap and good enough for me.I have since bought p7 after that, then mate 7,very happy with the mate 7 even after almost 2 and half years,no lag at all, never had to recharge, sometimes charge every 2 days.but I'm gonna buy huawei note 8 soon.love the big screen, and because it's mid range phone,it's cheaper too, uses same chip as last years flagship model p9.
you are right,Huawei is doing so well, and in the right segment.

    • I'm happy with the phone, as its only 100 dollars, it does everything I need, I know it might not be great for someone who like gaming but this phone works for what I need it for, if I lose it or it get damage, I'll go back to China buy another one for $100 and would be most like a later model again.

      • go back to China buy another one for $100 plus airfare plus accommodation ???

        • I go back every 6 to 12 Months to visit my Wife's in laws, so I like looking for bargains, accommodation, food is for free lol, in laws shout, if your in Asia it worth taking that chance, phone not the only things I buy, there other things that cost heaps in Australia which is cheap in Asia.

  • Huawei phones in China has pre-installed apps which you cannot uninstall. Over time the phones will be slower.
Honor is a great series, used to ran a very clean system, now they also have 3rd party pre-installed apps.

I found the mate 7 Oz version is much better than what my friends get from China, significantly different.
Buy Huawei here if you can.

    • Really?I plan to buy honor note 8,but not available in Oz,really like the spec,is it really that horried with extra 3rd party apps?no way you can uninstall?
my oz version mate 7 system is pretty aggressive re background apps in order to sav power, really like it,but it's been 2 and half years, really love the note 8.

      • Can confirm Honor 3c and Mate 7 Chinese version both have 3rd party apps including Sohu News.
Hope the Note 8 is clean, but I haven't seen one myself.

    • I complete understand what you mean there but just can't see myself spending another $220 just to have a clean system, I understand everyone think differently tho.

      • clean system last longer.
I am still using my mate 7, been using for about 700 days, my friend already gave up his.
