Deals on small Kitchen appliances - Breville mixer BM800 and Panasonic breadmaker SD-257

I know exactly what I want and am hoping that someone can give me some tips on how to get the best price for these two items and possibly where to purchase them.

Breville Wizz Planetary Mixer BM800 RRP $549
Myer and David Jones did have 20% off Breville items a little while ago, but I couldn't buy it then. Am hoping to get it for close to $400.

Panasonic Breadmaker SD-257 which has just been re-released in Australia. RRP $269. Hoping to purchase for close to or under $200.

Am I being unrealistic? I can wait till closer to or after Christmas if there might be better bargains around then (if I have to).

Thanks to anyone for suggestions and input.

  • If you are in NSW and are an NRMA member, or are a Choice subscriber, they both have a shopping service, where, if you give them a model number and a price to beat, they will find someone who can beat it. Has worked for me for several transactions, where they have even beaten Officework's price, which was the lowest I could find after weeks of hunting.

  • Have you tried checking out the Breville Factory Outlet? I have gone to the one in Fitzroy, about 2 years back with my mom to get a BEM400 Wizz mixer. It's a heavy-duty mixer but only runs on a 700W motor. At that time, it was the current model of their heavy-duty mixer and the RRP is $350. We got one from the factory outlet for $209 - came with a 12 month local warranty (I can't remember the warranty terms). Might be worth to do a Google search to see whether there's a factory outlet near you and give them a call.

  • Thanks for both replies. I'm in Vic and RACV does not seem to have a similar service :(.
Thanks for the thought about the factory outlet though. There is one close to work so I might check it out. See if they have current models in stock.
