  • Hi I will be needing new lenses but wont be able to get to an optometrist this week. Is it possible to maybe prepay for the lenses I am considering getting in order to get the discount?

    • +1

      Hey @twilsoncrow - no problem.

Just place your order now and you'll see an option to send us your prescription at a later date. Just click that and the team will get in touch with you to grab your prescription when you have it.

  • What is the difference between regular, thin, and ultra-thin lenses?

  • Hey @Dju - High level, the stronger your prescription, the thinner the lens you need to make sure your lenses avoid the coke-bottle look and, even more importantly, actually fit into your frames.

You can find out more about different lens types over at our Lens Guide - https://www.clens.com.au/content/lenses.html

  • just remember if you go for plano (no prescription) sunglasses, these lenses are not able to be claimed from your Private Health Fund extras.

    • Thanks for that @shmahoo - have updated the description to avoid confusion.

What's the refractive index of your ultra thin lens?

    • +1

      Hi @porleng

Our default indexes are as follows:

      Standard 1.5
      Thin 1.56-1.59
      Ultra-thin 1.6-1.67

Though being a full optical provider we can go significantly higher if needed.

NB: Where there's a range, what our lab uses by default is optimised for your prescription as higher index isn't always better.

That's because higher index lenses can sometimes create peripheral distortion and at lower spheres give no real aesthetic improvement. Once you factor in the typical additional pricing, there's no real reason why you would go higher index if it wasn't necessary. To be clear, we custom make every pair of lenses so will take instruction on preferred lens type, but where recommending lenses the above guides our thinking.

  • Can I send you my pair non-script sunglasses and get prescription polarised sunglasses lenses fitted?

    • Hi @buzzliteyear - absolutely. ANY frames - ANY lenses :)

  • Can you do polarised transitions in high index 1.67? (Specsavers do polarised transition, but only in standard last time I checked).

    • Hi @mathematicalcoffee - To our knowledge Transitions Vantage is the only polarizing transitions lens in the market ATM and they only come in 1.5 index unfortunately.

If you'd like some help finding another solution feel free to reach out to our team. Details on our contact page - https://www.clens.com.au/content/contact.html

      • Thanks, I suspected that might be the case but thought I'd check anyway in case they'd been produced in the last year. That would be the holy grail of lenses for me, perhaps one day….
