PayPal Promotion with Hotels.com - Yet No One Wants to Honour It

I need some help with this one:

Received my February statement from PayPal, with their usual promotions at the bottom. One of the ones that interested me was the one that said 'Hotels.com, pay with PayPal and receive 10% your purchase'.

So I follow the link and purchased a one night stay, yet the discount didn't reflect once I checkout with PayPal.

I have emailed both Hotels.com and PayPal, both of which, are pointing fingers at each other.

Who is at fault?

    If you follow the link from the email it says you need to enter coupon code AUPAY10 which is pretty much like any of the other 10% off codes floating around.

    T&Cs:

    Paypal AUPAY10 Coupon: Use this coupon to get 10% off the price of your booking at a participating Price Match Guarantee hotel. You must pay for your stay when you make the booking. The discount doesn’t apply to any taxes, fees or additional costs, and you’ll need to pay the full price for any other rooms in this booking. To use this coupon, you must be over 18 years old and resident in Australia. You may only use this coupon for bookings made between 12:01 am MST on 1 Jan 2017 and 11:59pm MST on 31 Mar 2017 on the Australian version of Hotels.com for a stay to be completed between 1 Jan 2017 and 30 Jun 2017.

  • I've actually retried the link from my statement email and there is no indication that a code is needed nor displayed anyway.

    • It's in the link above as an image to the right of the booking form, https://a2.cdn-hotels.com/cos/production18/d1823/b84b6410-49…. Is it not displaying for you?

      • I could see it in your link, but the link within my PayPal statement does not have that little coupon box when I land on the page, it's odd.
        Plus the offer does not mention a code, it's suppose to happen when paying by PayPal.

        • Yeah no code mentioned in the email. Weird. Is the booking refundable? If so, might be easier just rebooking rather than dealing with Hotels.com/Paypal customer support.

  • Why didn't you pick it up during the checkout process that the 10% discount didn't apply automatically?

    • I just thought that they would honour it, either way. There is no coupon code for this offer, it's meant to reflect upon choosing PayPal as the payment option.
