Bose Soundlink Mini II - Aux Cord Not Working?

Ok so maybe i'm being a little dumb but i can't get my aux cord to work with the speaker?

Is there some special aux cord that im meant to get that's compatible with this? Seems implausible but I just can't get the aux cord to work :( It's a pretty new cord as well, so it's not broken.

Anyone else had issues? Can't tell if the speaker is faulty or not (newly purchased)

    so far I've just tried with my phone.. a samsung galaxy s5. guess i could try a stand alone mp3 as well

  Try the following steps to resolve your issue:

  Make sure your connected device is on and playing on the speaker, press aux and make sure the source indicator is illuminated

  Make sure the 3.5 mm plug is fully inserted into the speaker, and fully inserted into the source device

  Make sure the speaker is not muted and the volume is up

  Increase the volume level on the AUX device

  Increase the speaker volume

  If no sound then you're in a pickle.

    soundlink mini II doesn't have the aux button.

    but yeh all other things have been checked.
