eBay Dilemma - Buyer Can't Pick up

I sold a amplifier and 9 speakers including 2 subwoofers which are quite heavy. The 2 front floor speakers are large and tall as well. So I obviously state that its pick up only. the person was suppose to pick them up today. I get a call for him this afternoon saying "I'm near the hume high..where is your house?" I say.. "I live near the gold coast, I don't live near Sydney" he says (in broken English) "oh can you send to me, I am in sydney for one day, but live in Melbourne, can you send? I say "It will cost a lot of money since there is a lot of speakers and they are heavy" old-mate says " I don't care, I want"

There were other buyers that have bidded on the auction and I am considering doing a second chance thing on ebay, which I will have to pay fees for. I took the promotion were I didn't have to pay fees for 10 items. So it looks like now I will because people don't like reading or paying attention. Anyway, what would you do? It will be such a hassle couriering it, I don't even have any boxes (not that most of the stuff would fit in them anyway. Thanks. The buyer was pretty nice sounding and I kind of feel bad for selling it to someone else, but its still annoying.

  • cancel sale, put in 2nd chance offer.

Not worth the hassle of packing them up, shipping them etc. Then you run the risk of them doing a 'return' and you paying for shipping back and a FULL refund including shipping.

"oh can you send to me, I am in sydney for one day, but live in Melbourne, can you send"
Sounds like the worst excuse (scam) ever.

I'm not putting up with it, scam or otherwise. I am about to put a nonpaying bidder dispute through. I checked his feedback and saw that a seller had this to say about him (which they left as positive feedback) "Yet another that likes to bid but dose'nt buy!…..TIME WASTER" He should of had a strike.

  • Sounds like a scam. Ignore and move to second chance or relist.

  • is this the sony muteki system?

      Yes. STR-KM7000

      • dont worry im not the buyer, i have the exact same system when you described it.

        • Having to turn the subs on is a pain, unless you have a powerstrip with master and slave function.

  • Sounds like a scam waiting to happen.

  • This website is the best (cheapest) one I've come across for shipping items interstate and overseas.Far cheaper than going directly with the same couriers. I have no affiliation with the site.

As for the ebay 'dilemma' - I wouldn't waste my time on it. Unnecessary headaches. Just offer it to the 2nd highest bidder or cancel the transaction and relist. It will inevitably become over-complicated and you'll come back here with yet another sob story. Not worth it!

  • Sendle isnt for bulky items too bad either.

But I would advise exactly what most people have said above about dealing through ebay, with second chance offer to the next bidder etc.

  • ask him to get someone to pick them up otherwise just cancel the sale. it not worth the hassle with so many things that could go wrong.

  • just relist it, not worth the hassle, he is just a time waster.

  • Just send him a potato with a message writte on it.

  • If you stated pick up only your under no obligation to post… if he cant cover the cost then second chance offer it out…give them the option first… if they organise postage collection make sure that its an actual courier and not just one of his mates picking them up on his behalf … I've had wins and loses with Paypal claims as buyer and seller they lack consistency and common sense.

    • I have put out second chance offers, but the bidders have gone quiet.

  • Have same problem, also had 10 free finalvalue listing. Good thing it's only $31 worth of item. So only need to pay around $3 ebay fee for second chance offer.

But my original buyer didn't even respond to my sms and ebay message -.- some people just have no manner at all.

    • That's why I am putting non bidder cases on who ever doesn't respond.

  • I never want to sell on eBay :/

  • I know you're trying to do the right thing by the guy but he's made the task too difficult. I'd save yourself time and money and just re-post them on eBay. You don't know the guy so you owe him nothing. He, on the other hand, owes you an apology for being a dick.

Yeah I know. I have already put out second chance offers and will probably relist in a few weeks. He actually really pissed me off. I want to hurry up and unload the stuff I don't need so I can make the house move easier. I am moving "ozbargain style" lol

  • Have you thought about putting it on the ozbargain classifieds at a 10% discount (given you won't need to pay the eBay fee)?

    • Yes I already have and I have been having more luck on face swap and sell. I still get people saying they are coming to look at something and then don't show up.

      • Yes, people are a little useless on the free channels!
