Buying a travel gift card

Hi All

Buying a gift card as a wedding present for use towards a honeymoon (Flight Centre, STA etc, not really important which one)

Suggestions on any discounts, cash backs, bonuses?

We have about $2k to put towards it

Thank you

  • You'd suffer less overheads and allow them more choice of travel providers if you gave them a cash transfer and a wedding card.

Why wasting money to buy travel gift card ? Isn't it more practical just give them $2K as wedding gift ?

  • Wouldn't the honeymoon have already been booked by the time you give them the present at the wedding?

  • hold the cash until they need to pay for their trip, then pay the agent directly. this ensures the cash goes to where it was intended.

All valid response but not entirely helpful!

If we can get say 5-10% off the gift card then it would be more economical than cash!

I understand what you're saying, I suppose the issue is that prices at places like Flight Centre often offer more expensive flights that say just booking yourself, so does it end up actually being more economical?

  • If you have Youi insurance you can get $100 off a $500 e gift card for Flight Centre.
