[PC] Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Free Weekend (until 26/2/17 8AM AEST), 50% off on Steam until 3/3 (US $29.99/~AU $38.88)

110

Saw this on the Steam site, free weekend running until Monday 27/2/17 at 8AM AEST. It's a free trial essentially! It has negative reviews though, so make of that what you will. For those of you who haven't installed a free weekend game before, you just download and install like normal on Steam, and it lets you launch and play the full game until the end of the free weekend period, when you can no longer launch the game (not sure what happens in the middle of the game if the time runs out though).

Apparently it's multiplayer only, with no access to Zombies mode though.

It also mentions 50% off the full game running until 3/3/17 4AM AEST (if my time difference calculations are correct).

I beg anyone who is thinking of buying this game to try the free weekend..

It will convince you what a steaming pile of crap this game is..

      I like the game.

But I'm one of a few who isn't just following the masses.

    • Played single player. For one session and then I uninstalled it. It's very pretty but very boring. Multiplayer would probably be a whole lot more fun.

    • I purchased Call of Duty BO3 and only attempted a few multiplayer games before I went back to BF4. A Call of Duty game will need amazing reviews before I attempt one again.

    • Games fine from a stand alone perspective, but if you compare it to BO3 it's far too much of the same.
If you've never played BO3 it'll probably be refreshing for you.

Online only? Or can i play the full retard singleplayer campaign too?

    • +5

Actually the single player is the good part of this game. Multiplayer is pretty bad.

      • I agree too, the single player campaign is pretty good.
        Carries some sentimental values.

I can see this sucking on PC due to the small playerbase and cheaters but it's a good game on console. Anyone who tells you otherwise just sucks at it.

      Too true.
      The games genuinely so fun.
Not as a CoD game. But in general as an fps its SO FUN

    • You must have low standards

  • Too busy playing the Wildlands open beta this weekend to bother trying this one. Interesting timing.

I thought that wasnt till the 27th?

      • Started Thursday night ~9.30pm Melbourne time.

    • Same. Played the first couple of missions last night. Pretty fun.

  • It's time to storm the beaches of Normandy again. Imagine what they could do now with that…. I really hope COD 1 / 2 is inspiring the next one.

They already confirmed the next installment will be 'boots on the ground' combat.

      • Hope so they pretty much went downhill after black ops 2

Couldn't even be bothered to download this

        • Yep, they sure did learn their lesson.

"it lets you launch and play the full game"

It's multiplayer only. Probably worth amending the description for those only interested in the campaign. 50gb is a sizable download.

    • Thanks, added that in. Also no Zombies mode access.

Guess it's not the "full game" after all. Last free weekend I took part in was Rocket League which didn't have limitations to my recollection.

Usually, COD free weekends are multiplayer only.

  • Surely a free trial is not really suitable to be posted on ozb, and if the deal is the 50% off then it shouldn't be tagged as a freebie.

    • Point taken, removed the Freebie tag. Still felt it was worth mentioning though, considering a) it's a sale and b) you get the option to try it for free which doesn't always happen.

        For this specific tile maybe…

        • 24 Feb NARUTO SHIPPUDEN: Ultimate Ninja STORM 4
        • 17 Feb SUNLESS SEA
        • 17 Feb NBA 2K17
        • 3 Feb Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege

And that is just the last month.

    Free is still too expensive.

  • Only a 70gb download, so worth it for a weekend. For most Aussies it would take a day or more to download.
