Redmi note 4 (MTK) Assistance

Hey Everyone

I purchased a white 64 gb redmi note 4
i went to flash the chinese dev rom as the firmware on my device wasnt correct
Now when booting up, and following the prompts.
i get to a stage were it remembers my old MI account.
Yet even with the correct password i cannot proceed
have reset the password multiple times with no resolve

I have contacted the usa xiaomi support who stated to reset the password more

Any attempts to fastboot the phone have fail. as i only have access to a 128gb macbook
and a windows 10 pc at work which i cannot install software.

I cannot access the internal storage when connecting device to pc
and as bootloader is locked i cannot use that option.

Is there anything i can do. or have i ruined this for myself and this is me learning my lesson

    You only need the Mi account to use Mi Cloud and etc, I think I have an account but I don't think I keep it logged in. So have you actually got the new rom in your phone or is it stuck half way? Maybe if you get a camera and take some photos of what it currently looks like, someone will be able to help you more.

      i think i flashed a bad rom
      i downloaded it from xiaomi
      updated using the app on the phone and all was well
      but now it states the device is locked
      because i didnt remove the account when i updated

      i contacted xiaomi live support
      provided everything they asked
      but they now want a photo of the box
      which i cant provide until im back from work sadly

        What do you mean by this? The bootloader is locked by default (which is easy to unlock you just need to ask Xiaomi for permission) and I can't think of anywhere else a Redmi could be 'locked'

    In the setup screen before the Xiaomi account part it asks to connect to wifi. At that point if you skip it (i.e. no wifi connection) then setup will not require you to put in a Xiaomi account. Phone will boot fully and then you can go into settings and change the Xiaomi account associated with the phone from there.

      when i try, it loops stating it needs a connection
      i tricked it using a old sim card as it asked for sim or wifi
      but then when it passed the screen i was stuck at
      it states device locked
      shows my username and phone number
      but again the password doesnt work

        That's really strange. Have you looked online for other international roms or even custom roms and see if you can flash your phone with that one?

          Yeah that is odd. Sounds like your only option is to flash a new ROM via fastboot, but as you've identified you'll need a PC with the right drivers to recognise the phone in fastboot mode. Can you borrow a suitable PC from a neighbor/friend?

    Ive had this phone for about 4 months now and I have bricked it soo many time I lost count but brought it back from the dead ever time thanks to 1 site
