HIKVision cam and NVR system help

Hi guys,
So I have purchased HIKVision 4ch 7804N-K1 NVR and 4 X DS-2CD3T45-I3 cams off eBay.
Now the writing on box is in Chinese.
I haven't turned it on yet but I went onto internet to find out if manuals were avail in English or not but can't see it anywhere.
What are my options?
Any possibilities in upgrading firmware? For both cams and NVR?
Any input would be greatly appreciated
I know there's one existing post but I wanted to see if we could get more details than other post

  • I'd be posting comments over at Whirlpool as there is a fairly active thread all about IP cameras. Hikvision are very popular with the posters (and me) https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2551216&…

In regards to firmwhere upgrade - maybe. https://diysecurityguy.wordpress.com/2016/04/03/tip-how-to-t…

    • Good idea. I'll check it out shortly

  • Do not upgrade firmware on Chinese cameras or NVR with hacked multi language firmware, interface will revert to only Chinese if you do.
Go back to the eBay listing it will clearly say somewhere amongst the specs if they are able to be updated or not.
These things are pretty much plug an play but you will find English manual on the hik web site. Another good resource is the ipcamtalk.com forum.

    • Thinking to upgrade firmware to include English language that's all. Not after new features just English language.

  • I have upgraded the cameras no issue from china / international
You need to understand the TFTP method of firmware upgrading and how to "modify / hack" language files\

I am not sure why you need to bother "updating" the firmware on the camera, anything past 5.X is fairly decent out of the box and you're wasting your time to upgrade it past 5.2 from memory, the features are plentiful and abundant in most of the chinese cameras

If you want peace of mind and easier update methods / support you are better off buying locally (yes you pay more but you get full english support / firmware and quicker resolution than dodgy ebay sellers)

My suggestion is to always change the sellers password immediately to something else and (WRITE IT DOWN) turn off any protocols that you do not need on the camera to stop outside access, I personally use BlueIris with my Hikvision cameras (about 8 cameras connected to a 10TB i7 64gb DDR4 DVR) and it works much better than the DVR as Blueiris allows you to play and record at the same time, great for when you need to pull footage out of it vs stuffing about with the DVR

If you do go down the DVR road, ensure you opt for a decent POE unit which is a mid range model, you'll find it handles multiple streams much better and is easier to operate

Hikvision is a good brand and cheap enough nearly everyone I Know has a camera setup in their house

    • Thanks for a great input. I want to upgrade firmware because I believe it'll be in Chinese language. And yes I do need to do some studying.

  • Tftp hack is no longer possible on the latest cameras from hik
Latest hik firmware forces you to create a password on connection to NVR, there is no longer a default password.
Strongly suggest op does some reading on ipcamtalk forums or will end up with some expensive paperweights.
Moldels op has purchased appear to be China region products, updating will delete English interface. Ebay sellers do have international versions that can be upgraded but cost slightly more but still significantly cheaper than buying in Aus. You just need to do some research.

    • I don't think this is latest model but def they were built to be used in china only
