Refurbished iPhones

Hi. I am in the unfortunate position of needing to buy two iPhones for my children. Can anyone please recommend the cheapest way to go about this.I cannot afford brand new so I was looking at getting a refurbished 5c 16gb for $248 from eb games as I liked the idea of the warranty - as opposed to purchasing from gumtree. There are plenty on ebay but I am assuming if the deal looks too good to be true, it probably is!
They are already on cheap plans so it doesn't make sense to put them on a more expensive plan just to get the phone.
What would you recommend?

  • What about this?

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-in-Sealed-Box-APPLE-iPhone-5C…

Brand new 16GB iPhone 5c with 1 year warranty for only $230.

It's always good to check Facebook Marketplace and other buy & sell pages on FB, too.

    • I am pretty certain those phones aren't brand new, there's negative feedback stating that the phones they sell are refurbished.

    • $19 extra to buy from EB which will guarantee AUS stock seems like a no - brainer.

  • I would stay away from the Gumtree ones, there are too many ways to get ripped off by buying these things privately; people reporting them stolen, after selling them, etc. It depends on what your kids are going to use the phone for but 16 Gb is very easily eaten up - I would also see what the bigger memory ones cost. I do agree it isn't worth an expensive plan to get the phone, particularly as you are likely to get stuck with the plan for 2 years, and kids are pretty fickly with what they want.

Have you considered getting them an android device?

As above, can you consider android? Why do you need to go for an iPhone?

  • I recently bought a 5s 16Gb for around $170 on ebay. It's been perfect.

  • Go eBay, or try cash converters. Cash Converters have a 90 day warranty

  • Thank you everyone for the advice. Any recommended eBay sellers as Eb games are currently out of stock. Thank you.
