Looking for Flight to Russia

Looking for a cheap return flight from Melbourne to Russia Moscow dep: 10/07/2017 / ret: 10/08/2017.

Would it be cheaper to book online or via a travel agent?

Found: $1093 China Southern Airlines booking via bestjet.com but with CC surcharge of 1.9% LOL :)

If anyone has any other good tips i should know traveling to Russia… So far it looks like invitation and visa will take lots of effort…

Thanks for everyones reply

EDIT: Thanks everyone, found $989.47 flight + $25.68 ticket service fee = $ 1,015.15 :)

Vietnam Airlines

  • I don't think you're going to get much cheaper flying directly into Moscow than those China Southern flights, though the layovers are shocking!

Only other thing I can suggest is look at other specials flying into other Euro cities and consider jumping on a train, but I don't think you're going to save that much by doing that. I was going to suggest trying to get Air Asia to Hanoi and flying direct from there but a quick look at those flight prices show you're not going to save money that way either.

    • I tried a similar route too and if OP is flexible with dates/is comfortable with sleeping in airports, savings might be possible:
Wed 12 July AirAsia AK215 to Ho Chi Minh City 0935-2040
Thu 13 July Aeroflot SU293 to Moscow SVO 1100-1730

Wed 9 August Aeroflot SU292 to Ho Chi Minh City 1915-0920
      (Free holiday in Vietnam! :P)
Friday 11 August AirAsia AK212 to Melbourne 1620-2000+1

Price for the AirAsia return is $225 (I believe this is a special which expires tonight) but is ex-baggage and the Aeroflot return is $718 via GotoGate, total is $943 but will need to include baggage which is another $56 each way, so total with baggage is around $1056.

Need a russian bride for ease of entry

  • I don't know about Russian roubles, but Ukrainian hryvnia are hard to get and even harder to get rid of :) I still have some in my wallet after 12 years. You can see the exchange teller's face sink when they see them.

  • Are you spending an entire month in Russia? Or do you want to travel around Europe a bit more?

She has never been to Russia and wants to see where her parents & grandparents used to live.

Right so do you want to spend a month in Russia or a few days there and then head somewhere else?

Some places are cheaper to fly into than others so you need to look around.

BEFORE you do anything. Get visas to Russia organised.

  • Not sure if its any cheaper but you can try flying to Helsinki then taking a 15 euro bus over to St Petersburg

  • In mother Russia, flights find you.

  • not sure but if you go at the same time as this you could maybe avoid visa, if you have tickets

    Just saw this: http://www.secretflying.com/posts/melbourne-or-sydney-austra…

Sorry, don't have time to check your dates, its says April - June, but then also says possibly more.

    Good luck!
