Getting from Sydney Domestic Airport to Glebe at 11pm with Kids

I'm assuming my only real option to get to Glebe from Sydney Domestic Airport terminal will be via taxi, considering I have an infant?

Uber don't generally provide baby seats right? (I've never used Uber before) and public transport wouldn't be the safest I assume.

Looking forward to your advice!

Yeah at that hour with an infant, taxi would be the safest and most expedient option. I don't believe we can book an Uber with child seat yet and public transport would mean a train from Domestic Airport station to Central and then bus or walking.

If you need a car while you're in town, might be worth hiring one from the airport?

    • I was thinking about hiring, but everything we are doing is very central and during the day time - besides the airport, so public transport would probably be our easiest option around central Sydney, don't you think?

    • Plus is it possible to get a car rental around 11pm at night?

      • I am looking at options for travel with infant from Sydney Airport as well at 11pm, looks like all the rental car counters at the airport close at 11pm and re-open at 5am so probably best to catch a cab…

  • An idea: Train to Central then taxi to Glebe. Safe enough. But maybe no or negative savings with a family. Plus connections get harder the later it gets.

Yeah just go with the taxi. You don't want to drive while tired and you don't need the rented car in the city.

You could try booking an airport shuttle service. We did this with our little one when he was 6 months and were able to pre book a baby seat. Also means you don't have to brave the taxi rank late at night and you know that someone will be there to pick you up giving you peace of mind with a little one. Google a couple and give them a ring. (We come from the Hills area so I can't give any recommendations for the Glebe area)

  • I'm thinking about pre-booking a taxi. Just looking at the various apps.. rydo apparently gives $20 off first date with them.

  • Just grab an Uber - Taxis can be overpriced and if you dont know which way to go they tend to take advantage.

    • Ended up getting a tax, cost $19 after the rydo discount. I didn't realise in NSW a 1 year old can ride in a taxi without a car seat. I'm not sure if you can in an uber.
