Cheap Flight to Inverness (Scotland) This April Holidays.can It Be Done?

So after all the super cheap euro flights have come and gone, the other half decides to ask when is the best time to take time off.

April school holidays apparently! Which start here on the 13th April for 2 weeks.

We are flying out of ADL, but finding a good bargain out of ADL is an art form. I will happily take an extra leg to MEL/SYD/PER or even SIN or HKG to get a better price.

To get to Inverness, there are connections via Amsterdam, happy to do that as well. The good thing is there is no enviro tax payable in Inverness, so it should be cheaper to fly out of than London etc.

Anyone know of any good deals around those dates?

Have a look at Adelaide-Doha-Birmingham on Qatar then connect to Inverness on Flybe, then Inverness to Manchester on Flybe, to Dubai on Emirates, then Adelaide on Emirates.

  • Just booked tix from Melb to Glasgow return with British Airways return for $1300 using Kayak, not sure if that helps

  • I might be inclined to look at flying into Edinburgh or Glasgow via a middle east airline hub (say Qatar) and then hopping up to Inverness either with a local flight, or train (train probably cheaper).

Inverness isn't a big place and flying direct will be limited. I'm seeing 50 hour trip times FFS vs 22 hours to Edinburgh.

You could also get to see Edinburgh, and hell, if you need to hire a car you could get it from Edinburgh and drive up.

    • Yeah some brutal long flights. Inverness is pretty much the only place in the UK that doesn't attract their departure tax, but looks like flight options are few and far between with Qatar and Emirates.

Will keep the Edinburgh/ Glasgow/ Dublin /Amsterdam options up my sleeve.

    • Ok Looks like EDI is the go with qatar

      • OK, I'd personally look at getting the train up from Edinburgh to Inverness. About 3.5hours, lots of scenery, and priced as low as £20. However it does mean getting introduced to the insanity of UK ticket prices.

Basically you need to book as far ahead as possible to get the lowest fares, and be a bit flexible. The prices otherwise can rocket. There are also different routes and different train companies as well, though I'd expect you'd be stuck with Scotrail via Perth. Unfortunately the Hogwarts Express line is the West Highland, and you'd be in the east.

Anyway, I'd be getting on it now.

Otherwise get a car and drive up.

  • What about adl-Manchester $1675 13th/27th April on Doha and drive the rest of the way.

Why the heck does Adelaide start school holidays a week later?

Can you leave Melbourne on the 10th ?

$937 return MEL - LHR on Royal Brunei on Expedia. I have you returning on the 27th of April

If I had leave I'd be booking that myself!!

You should be able to get $49 flights to Melbourne. I'd recommend going the night before , grab a cheap airport hotel room and then go the next day?

Alternatively you can go on the 10th from ADL on Qatar from about $1500… (Again Expedia)
