Want to Upgrade from Nexus Player (Android TV)

Hi All,

I want to upgrade from my old nexus player which has served me well. I want:
- Needs to do 4k
- Wired Ethernet
- Native Chromecast support
- Google play store preferred but not mandatory if I can still access Google Music, youtube, plex etc apps without side loading.

Was looking at the Amazon Fire TV but doesn't have chromecast support (it has screen mirroring but that's not exactly the same thing).
Are there any quality devices about?

No wired Ethernet port, but supposedly you can add a USB Ethernet adapter; best to do your own research before buying one though!

    • And more info on this post (at a good price too)

  • Chromecast Ultra? 4K with Netflix and Plex (4K casting from Chrome only I think until they fix their apps: https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/258137/why-plex-is-not-fol…).

  • Nvidia shield tv? I'm looking at one of those as a potential upgrade from my nexus player. Still get android TV, but now in 4k/HDR and also the ability to stream games from your PC if you have a compatible nvidia card

  • Shield is great, but I'd also look at the Mi box if you can deal with wifi.
