Beauty/Waxing Courses in Melbourne

Hi,

This is a long shot but does anyone know any good schools/training where you can get a certificate after completing a short course for beauty, in particular waxing?
Looking for a 1-3 day course.

I Googled but can't find anything decent or close to the CBD.

Thanks for your help in advance! :)

  • You can search for courses using the skills gateway website - http://www.skills.vic.gov.au/victorianskillsgateway/Pages/Ho…

This will list all courses in the TAFE system, including private provider colleges.

Having said that be wary - some of the course descriptions may refer to VET FEE HELP. This no longer exists, although you can apply for VET Study Assist ( the new scheme) but I imagine this won't apply to such a short course.

Also, recent research about skills shortages and the difficulties employers face in recruiting for those vacancies shows that employers are often reluctant to employ graduates of accelerated/ short courses because of questions over the quality of the training.

So, I don't know your circumstances or why you want to do a course in such a short length, but I'd be asking the course provider for some good and specific evidence about the employability of its graduates before you make a commitment to what will be an expensive endeavour.

I also just googled waxing short course Melbourne and Ella Bache and Aust College of Hair Design and Beauty came up - both are reputable organisations- but I still don't think you will find a course shorter than a week.

    • Thanks so much for this!

      Really appreciate it.
We run a beauty salon - hair, nails, massage etc so wanted to add another string to the bow.

I thought waxing courses were normally short so that's why I thought 3 days was enough.

      Really appreciate your feedback!

      • Where in Melbourne are you? I have a girl who has completed her cert 3 in beauty ( so she is qualified) but she is a VCAL student and is looking for work placement. She is very mature and reliable. Maybe she could do work placement with you and you could offer beauty/waxing services one day per week? ( I think Brazilian waxing is a higher level of qualification though, if you were looking to offer that.

  • +1

PS. You can wax hard to reach places using nads and a paddle pop stick
