How do i confirm my newly purchased eBay iPhone is legit?

I purchased my first iPhone during the week from an ebay store while the 10% off deal was on and it's just arrived. It's an SE 64gb space gray and is supposed to be genuine AU stock and unlocked.

The box looks new and is shrink wrapped and on the back it states an iPhone SE, Space Gray, 64gb - so good start. I've just checked the model no. on the box (A1723) matches what is listed here for the SE: https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT201296. I've also gone to checkcoverage.apple.com and specified the serial on the box and it says it can't provide details because the phone hasn't been activated - which I take to be a good sign.

Before I open the box I just want to confirm what else I should be checking:

Besides this, if it all checks out, i'm assuming i'm good to go?

Give us the link to the product on ebay.

Shouldn't you ask that question before you make the purchase?

  • Which ebay store did you buy it from?

      • yes that's correct.

        • You still haven't opened the box?

Just open the box anyway, it's not like you bought it second off Gumtree. If anything is wrong with the device, just file a ebay/paypal dispute.

    ask apple store

  • It looks like an Australian business(www.thinkofus.com.au) who also have an ebay store. The below is stated from their website. So the IPhone could be grey import as well.
