Does Costco Sell American Bacon?

Hey everyone, I've been wondering because a new Costco is opening up around me. Does Costco sell real smoked American bacon or is it the crappy streaky bacon Coles and Woolies sell that is basically ham.

I know this might cause a debate or something I just simply want to know if they sell the bacon hahaha. Thanks All!

australian law is very stringent regarding bacon sales, so you wont find anything like american bacon on our shelves (or even in a butcher)

    • Thank you so much, i've been trying to figure this out for years. Thank you!

    • Is there a link to find out more?
I know we used to ban all pork imports, but I believe that is now limited to fresh pork with a bone.

Just add more oil and salt.

    Voila….American Bacon.

I bought streaky bacon from here:

    • i tried it but like when i went to the states the bacon was just so much more different idk how to explain it, thanks for the link :D is it any better then the woolies/coles one?!

      • Unfortunately, all bacon taste the same to me. It's about how much salt, oil, sauce, you add to it.

Costco Ringwood in Vic do a thick-cut American streaky bacon so would think it's stocked else where, Woolies have two American streaky bacon packs

Well don't say this kind of tripe, then:

Does Costco sell real smoked American bacon or is it the crappy streaky bacon Coles and Woolies sell that is basically ham.

American bacon is absolutely atrocious. I was so glad to get back home to Australia to get the good stuff. Coles sell some fantastic streaky bacon.

    • Australian bacon is brine injected pork. It's fake bacon. It's one of the few products in Australia that is really substandard compared with overseas versions (British, Irish.) I don't know about American bacon, but I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't that good, either.

Are you cooking the bacon in the oven like hotels do?
It gets it to that crispy way the Americans seem to prefer, rather than sitting in frypan in its own fat.
    Closer, anyway.

    • thanks for this, will try it!

      • If you try this, you'll have to play around with your oven settings. I use a TurboOven (the round ones on the countertop and they run hotter) and set it to 200C for 12-15 minutes. The first time I tried baking it, I checked the oven from the 10 minute mark because it can go from perfect to burnt very quickly. Good luck!

  • Coles had a maple smeared smoked bacon the other day when I was there. It was reasonably tasty. This coming from someone who grew up in the us.

  • Costco have American style Turkey Bacon but it's made here under Coburg Smokehouse brand by Tibaldi. YouTube fitness channels are always talking about eating Turkey bacon. Had to try it and it's good!
