Urgent help needed for travelling via Thai Airways

I am travelling with Thai Airways this Sunday. Both Sydney and local office in Karachi are not attending calls (probably closed). If I am silver member, what is the process to redeem additional 10kg?

You need to attend the nearest Post office (with the supposedly 10kg) and get a voucher then head to the local cop shop and get it stamped. Finally find a JP to certify all documents.

Seriously, how did you become silver if you don't know how loyalty programs benefits work!

      Thanks for your useful input.

  • Call Bangkok, I would imagine if your now silver the extra 10kg limit would be automatic added no action required.
Have you looked at the website?

    http://www.thaiairways.com/en_TH/rop/Status_Benefits/Benefit…

    • Yes I have gone through website but it does not show redemption process. It only provide information on benefits.

      • Are you joking?
You just turn up with the heavy bag, you don't need to redeem.

        • That is correct. Simply check your bag in. Wai and then wink - Easy.

        • Ok thanks. I was concerned bcz I thought there might be some redemption process beforehand just like you put special meal requests.

  • Trick is to wear your heavy clothes and put other heavy items in hand luggage. Laptop bags are great for heavy books or dense heavy items.

You are probably OK just showing your Star Alliance silver tag at check in, anyway.

I think there are some odd comments here!
Karachi office should be open Saturday morning at least. If you are at a Hotel the they will assist.
When you arrive at airport use an approved Porter.
Explain situation to him. If you have Aussie passport he will ask for it.
Once you pass security scans just inside terminal he will take you to check-in and stay with you. You have to then wait until your luggage goes through final scan after checkin.
You should be OK. Should be light load to Bangkok Sunday night?
Tip Porter a few hundred Rupees as thanks. Always carry a few hundred Rupees with you at airport.

    • Great advice, thanks!
