Cheap option for home security DVR monitor?

Hello OZbers,
I need advice on a monitor for home dvr security system,
What spec should I look for?or it does not matter that much?
is 1080p better?is pc monitor cheaper than using tv?whats the pros and cons?

  • This really depends on how long you want to keep the monitor on, ie will you use it just to set up the system and then to (rarely) review footage, this is what I do and I have an old clunker Cconia 32" LCD a relative was going to bin - works a treat. But if you are going to have the monitor/screen powered on continually you may want something that consumes allot less power. If your DVR supports network/IP out you may be better off just logging into the device from your PC to review footage, also many systems have aps which allow you to review (or permanently monitor) from an old phone or tablet.
