Late Night Open Food Places (Sydney Edition)

I am in the Blue Mountains Katoomba but was wondering if there were any open places past 4 am near the west or wherever.

For some ungodly funny reason I always find myself sabotaging myself with no food around this hour.

There is a local 24 hour BP near me that sometimes does pies and other pastries and grocery food but was wondering if there were any other options.

I think the closest fast food near me is in either Lithgow or Penrith which are both 1.5 hours away by train for me haha lol which further screws my situation.

Any other late nighters can share their stories or information that would be great.

It's a bit misleading to say 'Sydney edition' when Katoomba is over 100km from Sydney. Although when it comes to late closers/early openers, they are both like a 'country town' :)

Couple the geographic location and its comparatively sparse population with 1) time of night/day, and 2) seeming reliance on public transport, and you have severely narrowed your choices. If you had a car I'd say Blaxland McDonalds is your closest at about 35 mins away but even then it might not be 24hrs.

Best bet? Cook your own food.

If you find yourself in Sydney proper, there's always Golden Century which closes around 3-4am. Eaton restaurant in Ashfield likewise is a late closer at about 2am. But generally Sydney is a minnow in the world's late night economy pond.

    • I gotta say, Golden Century isn't as great as people make it out to be. It's good for seafood, but the rest is kinda meh.

What are other people's thoughts on the joint?

      • I'd echo your thoughts, BHH

      • My old boss used to insist we go there whenever he was in town. We went there so often and each time I was disappointed in us not going somewhere different and with better food

        • What were you guys ordering?

        • @BrewerHaHa: I don't recall, it was so long ago. He would spend thousands in one visit for approx 7 or 8 of us. Always the xo pippies. Fish from the tank at market price. I was never wowed, I expected so much more

@compingqueen: At least you didn't have to pay?

  • Star kebab in auburn are open until 2 or 3am, sometimes I venture out to western Sydney with doors locked to satisfy my cravings for a lamb Kanab. Shame sultans in Waitara closes at 10, otherwise there'd be no reason for me to go further west than Epping.

I know this place called My Kitchen
    Its open 24/7
Drinks are always on the house
    These are some of my favourites;
    Dr Oetker pizzas
    Four n Twenty Pies
    Mi Goreng
    Steggles Chicken Tenders
Food takes a bit longer than a regular fast food store but at least theres no shitty half-asleep waiters to deal with at 4am

  • I keep frozen pizza (I like the ones from Aldi) for times I don't want to spend the time to prep/cook, it's a compromise on health somewhat, but at least I can eat in bed and sleep straight after.

  • Stop smoking the green stuff and you won't feel the need for late night munchies
