New Optimum 9400 Blender $418 Shipped @ Froothie.com

32
REFURB-9200

The link is for the blender you have to order (9200a), not the blender you'll actually receive. Please bear with me, this probably seems more complicated than it is.

I ordered a refurb 9200a. Received an email saying they were out of stock, and I could get either a refurb 8200 or a new 9400 at a discount. I'm told they have absolutely no refurb 9200a or 9400 models and will definitely not have any in the near future. Since the site still shows the refurb 9200a in stock, you should be given the same deal I was.

Step #1. Go to Cashrewards and search for Froothie. Maybe you'll get to keep the cashback, maybe not. Go to the Froothie.com.au site via Cashrewards, then go to the Vortex Blenders page. At the bottom there's an ad that rotates, you want the one for refurbished blenders. Click on the 9200a. Here's the direct link (paste it in the same window opened by Cashrewards):

https://www.froothie.com.au/refurbished-optimum/optimum-9200…

At the moment, the Silver and Red show in stock (they are NOT). Pick one and add to your cart. Use REFURB-9200 in the voucher field to take off another $50. Shipping (for me) is $9. At this point, you should be paying a total of $358.00.

Next step, you should receive an email that includes this offer:

"We can offer you a brand new 9400 blender for an additional $60 or offer you a refurbished 8200 blender for $299 and receive a $50 refund. Please respond to this email and advise which option you would prefer."

I chose the new Optimum 9400. The $12.51 cashback is still sitting in my account, for a possible total of $405.49.

If you want the 10 year warranty, you might try your luck and pay $110 for the 10 year on the refurb 9200a and seeing if it transfers to the brand new 9400. If it works, you'd pay $528 for the Optimum 9400 with 10 year warranty vs $688 ($479 for Optimum 9400, $200 for 10 year warranty, $9 shipping). If you try it, let us know if it works.

Here's the link for the Optimum 9400 (for informational purposes only, you will not be be purchasing from this page):

Edit: I suppose it's technically possible they'd find a 9200a in the back corner somewhere, but they sure couldn't find it for me. Personally, I'd prefer the 9200a for $358. They're basically the same base model, the 9200a has pushbuttons and timers (for example, can set it to fast speed for 20 seconds), the 9400 has a dial for finer control of speed and no timer buttons.

Not a deal but a gamble
What happens when the refurb 9200a arrives

    • I see what you're saying, but I've seen whirlpool posts that state similar deals were made when they were out of stock of a particular model. Froothie said they definitely don't have any refurb models. Here's part of another email they sent (also confirmed on the phone):

"We have sold out of all refurbished 9200’s and the website is being updated as we speak.

We have not had any trade expo’s recently and do not have any in the near future so there are no more refurbished incoming in the immediate future"

Worst case scenario, you get an even better deal on the 9200a (I'd prefer it over the 9400, but eh). Very doubtful.

  • For what it's worth I have the 9400 and it's a tank. At the time I bought it the online reviews had it neck and neck with another popular blender that retails for about $1000. I had a 'suspicion' at the time they came form the same factory. Even had the missus rip me a new one when she spotted the more expensive one in the shop and thought I'd paid $1000 for a blender…that's how much they look the same. :)

    • I suspect you've never done a tear down to compare the two. I have. I can confirm that Optimum blenders may well come from the same factory that produce $100 ebay items. They don't compare to a $1000 Vitamix at all. Just because they "look" the same…they are not. Not ripping on you, just trying to counter miss information. I've commented on these blenders in the past on ozbargain. Just trying to help people from wasting $300 on good marketing. The $100 ebay blenders are the same power and reliability. But again, they do not compare at all with blendtec or vitamix blenders.

      • My thoughts:

I see a lot of ~$100 blenders on ebay that have similar specs and look similar as well. I've seen some reviews that state they're noticeably lighter weight, don't work quite as well, but are still good value for the money. I haven't seen any that say they're exactly the same, parts are interchangeable, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if some did come from the same factory and shared some parts. I've cheaped out before, I just don't feel like buying a $100 blender, have it break in a year, buy another, etc. Tired of it.

If someone has recently purchased one of these blenders and can confirm it's virtually the same, please post details. There's so many different brands, no idea which ones are clones and which are clones of clones. And make sure you say if you have an actual Optimum 9200a/9400 to compare it to. I have no doubt that even a clone of a clone would run circles around a $40 BigW blender.

      • I suggest you use more accurate wording. If you've done a comparison of blenders, then you can't claim that "they don't compare to a $1000 Vitamix at all". Instead, you could write that they are inferior in some ways, if that's what you've found.

      • I'd like to see your video of that tear down. Got a link?

  • I got one of these which seems fine and has a reasonable price and 10 year warranty.Of course unless you try lots of these types of Vitamix knockoffs ( and the Vitamix), you'll never really know how your machine compares. Free shipping. 8% off with Cashrewards. Sign up for their newsletter may get you a discount (just guessing). They also have two more expensive models.

  • They appear in the goodmorning infomercial shows.
For this reason my mind places this brand in the same tier as a shakeweight.

  • My $4 good guys blender is still going "strong" :D

    • What's it used for?

I last bought a $40 or $50 blender at Aldi (not the ~$70 everyone raves about). Always leaves chunks of ice, chia seeds aren't fully blended, doesn't handle frozen bananas (fresh are fine), can powder about one cup of sugar at a time (have to take breaks, do it all at once and it gets so hot that the sugar starts to melt at the bottom), etc.

For basic stuff, it's ok (until it breaks, as all our blenders have done in the past). There's workarounds for some of the shortcomings (for example, freeze margarita mix, blend that, use water instead of ice to dilute). I've run it until it starts to have a bit of a burning smell (so, about a minute). It just will not blend ice cubes well (you should be able to drink it out of a straw, not use a spoon).

The cheapest one I could find that has reliable reviews that says it should do what I want is the Optimum 8200. Vitamix has great reviews, even people on a frugal forum I'm a member of generally say it's worth it (they make fun of you if you buy a car instead of walk/bike, so they're pretty hardcore). No way I'm paying those prices. Youtube comparisons say the Optimum 9200a/9400 models are on part with Vitamix. I hope they're right. I need it to excel at three things. Making my wife's smoothies, blend ice properly, and turn things like sugar and nuts into powder (I plan on buying raw almonds and making my own almond flour, the blender will pay for itself in under a year if it's up to the task).

      • Making baby food. That's why I put "strong" like that :p

I placed an order for the 9200A refurb and that is what they are sending me. Still happy with it though as that is the one I was looking at initially as missus wanted the buttons. Didn't actually see the refurb link at the bottom of their page. This just made it heaps cheaper.

    • When? Surely not since I posted this (if so, I'll be a bit upset that I didn't get the cheaper 9200a, and that yours has already shipped while mine's still in a warehouse somewhere). Let me know, if they found some I'll hop on the phone ASAP.

Dont know if it made a difference but I am in Brissie, Maybe they had them up here. And ordered well after you posted this. Couple of hours at least. As far as I can tell it has shipped as they have given me a tracking number. That says picked up from Brisbane location and on its way.

    • Called up, guy says there's no refurb, only one or two new ones, etc. etc. Asked for your name so they could look it up. If you don't mind, I'll message you and if I can get your order number they said they'd look into it.

Edit: I did specifically state you were in Brisbane and it shows it shipped from Brisbane. Not happy that the one I ordered the day before still hasn't shipped.

  • Mrs Youshi has been at me for a decent blender to replace the perfectly adequate chopper I bought from Big W for $15, after researching of course I came here, the ad is still posted for this refurb 9200a but with no option to add it to the cart, I rang them to ask and they said their "IT people were working on it as we speak", she also said there was no stock. I asked (harangued) for a deal on a new one to assuage my monumental disappointment and got a new 9400 for $400 plus $9 freight, I'm tallying up the brownie points now!:)
