50% off Virgin Active Membership, up to 50% off Fitness First, up to $400 off Anytime Fitness Fees/Yr for AIA Vitality Members

960

Full credit for this goes to lawyerz for this, his post tipped me off to joining AIA Vitality for half price Virgin membership, and as his post expired I thought I'd breathe some life in to it and hopefully get people cheaper gym membership.

To get the deals and access AIA you need an insurance policy that gives you AIA Vitality membership. I signed up for Life Protect through RAC, for $8.38 a fortnight. I'm young, healthy, and wouldn't have got any kind of life or injury insurance so the fact I have it is a bonus, to be honest. RAC or RACQ allow you to join directly and access AIA, otherwise you can fill in a form on AIA's site and a financial adviser will get in contact with you to sort you out with a policy that includes AIA membership.

Joining AIA gives you either $400/year discount at Anytime Fitness, or 50% off at Fitness First or Virgin Active. On top of that, each time you visit the gym you get points (capped at 15k a year) and each time you do certain activities you do. For example, filling in a mental health review on Vitality gives you 600 points, or tracking your food for 7 days per quarter gives you 1200 points a quarter. These points go towards one of four levels of membership, Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum. Each one gives you access to slightly better benefits in addition to the gym memberships.

Gift vouchers:
5,000 $20
10,000 $40
15,000 $60
20,000 $80
25,000 $100
30,000 $150
35,000 $200

Cashback on Qantas flights (limited to 2 per year)

Bronze 10%
Silver 30%
Gold 40%
Platinum 50%

Endota Spa vouchers (limited 4 per year)

Bronze Silver Gold Platinum
20% 30% 40% 50%

Also, if you get 250 points or more in a week through 'healthy living activities' such as going to the gym or from connecting your fitbit, you get a $7.50 Boost Juice voucher (and if you're signed up to Boost's rewards club the drinks you get through the voucher count towards the free Boost you get after every 10!).

I'm not associated with AIA Vitality at all, I just think it's a really awesome program that's saving me a ton of money.

    • Yeah, from RAC WA. I'm a bit frustrated by that. Not sure what other options are available for NSW residents, if any.

Let’s update here if we find a good alternative.

        • They are going to pay me $960 though if I want to cancel so thats pretty good

I am with RACQ (but I am in Victoria).

They are offering to pay back all the premiums I paid since being a member

          • @AussieMark: I've gotten the same offer from RAC (WA) as well, so while I'm frustrated that they're withdrawing the offer I do feel that they've gone about this as well as you can really expect in the circumstances.

            • @SeaWolf au: I was wondering if a) you can set a local address but have a interstate mailing address

Or b) taking the money and getting as good a deal elsewhere. From my understanding they cracked down on the good deals and all new deals now pay a $10 fee monthly for AiA vitality on top ?

Anyone else confirm or deny would be appreciated

            • @SeaWolf au: Kinda wish I was a member for 10 years then I get back 10 000 muahhahahab

        • I will be scouting round tonight, I am gutted, as was loving the vouchers and 50% gym membership

          • +1

@daveg1980: am curious will your 50% discount to gym stop? Do you think the gym will be notified? I'm currently not using this but just curious

            • +1

@AussieMark: Have received confirmation email that Fitness First will honour the 30% discount but we will no longer receive the quarterly 20% cash back from AIA

            • @AussieMark: Good point, there is a thing where Vitality tracks your gym going to get weekly points. I am not sure if there is a monthly check to validate membership for example

            • +1

@AussieMark: Just got an email that my gym membership will still be 50% off till mid-June and that virgin will contact me and offer me a discount. Just got the virgin email and they will offer me 35% off the usual membership price. Quite disappointed as the program was very good and was a good motivation to the gym.

  • I sent an email to AIA regarding my residential status.
They request leasing agreements or bills with addresses in WA to prove your residency.

Here’s the loop hole you can sign up to a new policy and input residential address directly and a different mailing address. Once you’ve established your policy call and connect to your already established AIA membership. Cancel your old policy and get that refund.

    • I have tried the postcode 6000 and other variations but getting the 'Unfortunately we are unable to offer you cover because you have not met our residency requirements'
Did you use a VPN whilst signing up?

  • Understand this is an old post…
Has anyone had experience in joining anytime fitness in the brand, then joining AIA afterwards and receiving rewards?
By joining the gym first, what benefits do you miss out on?
Keen to hear back from those who have experience in this.
    Thanks

    • As long as you're not locked in a contract. You should ask anytime fitness

But AIA comes online a day after you setup a policy so pretty easy

      • Thanks for your comment AussieMark.
I actually just received a reply from AIA and the response is below:…
"The benefits for Anytime Fitness are: 10% discount on home club membership, and a $100 cashback it you complete 24 visits within a 91 day rolling quarter. As for you are already a member Anytime Fitness, unfortunately, you will either need to cancel your 12 month contract and re-contract with them and or wait until it is finished before you will be able to link it to Vitality to get the benefit."

        • thanks for sharing.

Yeah that is standard with any contracts :p

Virgin Active is good because no contracts - only month to month payment.

Could always try breaking your contract or negotiating with them (especially if you are going to sign up again anyway, as I am not sure if AIA subsidize the difference).

  • Can anyone confirm that this still works for NSW residents? Looking at that 50% off Virgin membership.

    • i can confirmy daddy as long as you have AIA vitality (only some parts of NSW got to keep their AIA)

  • Question on the 100 point gym visits. If I want to stick to my current gym can I get the 100 points for visiting that + 100 points for 'other physical activity' like steps or whatnot? I have a smartwatch hooked up to MFP/Garmin which can track these.

Also can't find where RACQ is offering life insurance for as little as OP has got, anyone have a link?

    • +1

It's only Qld and WA now

      • Yeah I am in QLD so that isn't the issue I don't think

        • Ahh I found the correct RACQ life insurance page for $220 a year now. https://www.racqlifeinsurance.com.au/en/racq/pd-quote.html?p…

Just hoping to get an answer to the gym question now before I join. Can I stick to my current gym and get the same amount of points I would asif I was going to AF/virgin/FF? E.G. I get the 100 points for attending my normal gym (tracked through my watch) and also get 100 points from steps for the same day

          • +1

@knobbs: you'd have to double check but I think its a maximum of 100 per day,

so either the 12500 steps OR the gym. You cannot get 200 :) I tried.

Also note it caps at 15,000 per year for all gym / exercise related points

            • @AussieMark: Oh champion! That solves my hesitation then. I was worried I would lose out on some points if I stuck to Worlds Gym. So I can just link my garmin/MFP account with AIA and it will track my gym sessions I add on my watch to get the 100 points? Or is it a manual entry?

One other question, people have said in the past they pay a $10/m fee to be on AIA Vitality Rewards. This only seemed to be for AIA Vitality insurances and not others like RACQ. Can anyone confirm who recently signed up if they have to pay the $10/m and are not with AIA insurance?

Guess I will be signing up to get some more life insurance tonight. Thanks for your help AussieMark!

              • +1

@knobbs: No $10 additional fee in this instance

So 100 points max for exercise per day so walking 12500 steps or gym (or the exercise at a certain time at a certain heart rate). It does it all for you automatically through Fitbit. Don't need to add manually

I assume Garmin is the same.

Just so you know more companies will be added in March I think but there's some upcoming changes for redeeming points.

                I think it's excellent value

          • @knobbs: and yes it can be a bit hard to find, on the site / google. Not sure why

  • Can anyone kindly advise the cheapest way/amount to access an eligible policy for this for a VIC resident?

    • Through your super like rest

      • No longer available it seems… https://www.rest.com.au/member/aiavitality

        • Only Qld and WA are available for RAC and RACQ now

They will ask for a driver's licence too at point of cancellation or if they suspect you aren't located there

  • Anyone got the current rates for fitness first with AIA?

    • The prices for a normal membership are up on Fitness First's website. So just apply the discount to the 12 month membership at either Platinum or Passport level (depending on which you need) to get the price.

  • Anyone using Huawei watch or Fitness band for AIA Vitality? Can they get sync?

  • Could someone please confirm the discount you get on Virgin Active memberships using AIA? Does this still work as of end of 2022?

    Thanks

    • 50% off prime and premium membership

    • Yes, it still works, however there's two tiers to AIA Vitality and the lower one (AIA Starter) is only 30% off. It's off Prime or Premium memberships.

      • If I were to get AIA silver status would the discount be higher? Is 50% achievable for Virgin active? Do you purchase the virgin membership through AIA or do you get reimbursed?

        • +1

The discount for Virgin Active is the same no matter what your AIA status level is, so the 30/50% discount will be available to you straight away and as long as you still have AIA Vitality or AIA Vitality Starter (which one you have will depend on your insurance plan). You just sign up through the AIA Vitality app and get the discount price, there's no cashback or reimbursement needed.

  • Hi guys, looking to get AIA Vitality to get the benefits, however I am already covered with Life, Health Insurance and Income Protection by my employer.

Can I join RAC, with say $1000 Life Cover and still be entitled for AIA Vitality?

Or Can I actually join RAC, get myself an account with AIA Vitality, join the gym for 50% off then cancel my insurance cover?

  • Reviving this for 2023… how can NSW residents access this deal?

    • Through your super or health cover but it's a lot more expensive in Vic and NSW I found

  • Anyone have any information on the cheapest way to get into AIA Vitality these days? No, I can't get it through super so would be looking for something like a life insurance policy.

    • +1

      Qld only now RACQ
