Not sure if this is a mistake on my Veda credit report...

Basically I had a credit card application with one of the Big 4 and left the box for credit limit empty (and ticked the box for "give me maximum credit limit"). I did this because someone somewhere that I can't remember said your chances of being approved may be higher if you do this.

So, the Veda report shows an enquiry for $50,000 for that application. At the end, the bank gave me $15,000 credit limit. I'm not sure if anything is wrong here or if I should report to Veda that my credit limit is just 15k? Does the value of inquiries affect the score?

Any comment would be highly appreciated.

You really shouldn't of left that box blank.

Amount of enquiry always show up….
I applied for $10k, received $8k credit card - shows up as $10k on my VEDA Credit Report.

    • So, probably the 50k has been the maximum credit limit for the card that I applied, and the back just checked my file for that limit.

In retrospective, it seems leaving it up to the bank to decide on the limit will lower your chances because they go for maximum credit limit.

  • never leave the box blank.
