OLED PS Vita starts getting some lines in the bottom, should I get another OLED ver or get the LCD ver?

Hey guys, I need help, my OLED PS Vita starts to get some horizontal lines at the bottom and I think its getting worst the longer I use it, I'm planning to get a new one but I dont know which one, should I get the LCD version which will make it less likely for the screen to break or should I get another OLED one because it looks better than the LCD ver.

Either I will need to get at EBGames Pre-owned as they dont stock them brand new anymore locally, only comes with 30 days warranty(?),
So should I go safe way (LCD) or risky but better image quality (OLED)?

this is the screen issue

it starts small then getting higher

  • I never found the OLED version to be 'better', it is a first gen AMOLED so other than blacks it is unimpressive to me. Up to you, the lightness and feel of the newer LCD model is far superior but I can understand if some people are fixated on OLED or nothing.

    mate, time for a switch

  • Just get a new screen off ebay ~$50-60. Pretty easy to swap out, I replaced a PSP screen once. Just find instructions on youtube and follow, or take it to a phone repair shop. Doubt you would find it easy to locate a unit second-hand these days.

  • i own both teh oled and lcd.

in terms of screen quality oled is way better in seeing details whereas the lcd is okay. the lcd in teh vita is still top notch and is comparabile in quality to the ipads. just so you also know, the switch screen is teh shit.

the lcd version has usb charging which is good and also a glass screen, way lighter and more ergonomic. oled was heavier and sharper when holding, plastic screen.

if it were up to me, oled before lcd if you can still find it.

    • I suspect the LCD is better under sunlight as well, is that right?

  • I have the LCD version and i think I made the right choice. It's just so convenient being able to use a standard microUSB charger which you would have heaps of lying around anyway to charge it.

also, you never know, but your next OLED vita might encounter the same issue again after some time and you would need to go hunting for a new one all over again

  • Cant really complain about my amoled screen. Shame she dosent get used as much as she use to.
