Kogan Sim problems?

Hey!

I grabbed a kogan sim, however it seems i'm having some issues. The sim works fine in a very old 3g phone, but my galaxy s4 shows there is no sim card and my iphone SOS only. Strange that it works on the old phone, anyone have any ideas or had this issue?

Thanks!

  • Could the phones be network locked?
To unlock the iPhone, you just need to back it up and restore it.

    • No, both phones are unlocked.

  • The SIM is probably faulty, I have three users on Kogan in my household and all sims work fine

    ask for a replacement sim.

    • I got them to transfer it to a new sim, and it has the same problems :(

      • If you have access to a voda sim, maybe try that and see if it has the same problem.

        • Unfortunately I do not, I tested a aldimobile sim and that works fine.

        • @sudoroot: The reason I am saying to test with a voda sim, is because Kogan uses the Vodafone network.
          Aldimobile uses Telstra.
You need to work out if your problem is actually with the sim card, or if it is that your phone doesn't want to connect to the voda network.

  • I've purchased a 4G modem to see if I can get that working.

  • i noticed mine all had somewhat of a curve in them so the pins made poor contact, try flex the sim to push the contact patches out more

  • Hi Sudoroot,

Having the same problem with new kogan sim card not working with Samsung S4.

    Any updates?

  • On your iPhone with the kogan sim inserted, go to settings - reset - reset network settings.
    Tell us how you go.

  • Make sure you try the new SIM before initiating porting of old number since if you get "No SIM card installed" (iOS) error and you have already initiated the porting, you'll end up with no active SIM card until you receive the replacement SIM which will take days! Their online help page says 99% of the time this is because SIM is not inserted correctly, as evident that's not true! Maybe Kogan needs to post multiple SIM cards so we can hope that at least one of them works or have their SIMs available to purchase via Woolworths, Coles etc.. or to warn people to try the new SIM first before initiating porting.. Not having an active number for days is unacceptable!
