    Any other hotels?

    • +1

A few others are included - have updated the post.

      • Thanks

  • Nice find. Cheaper than AirBnB for Brisbane.

Just shows how desperate some developers / property management companies are getting…the time is getting ripe for picking up cheap apartments!

      • +2

Yes. I'm tempted to pull the trigger on an apartment but identifying that golden time to buy is critial. If you find a bargain on a 2x2 please post it here SC :) I think we've got a bit of time up our sleeves yet though.

        • +1

          There's no rush.
There's plenty of new apartment buildings due for completion in Brisbane inner suburbs all through 2017 and 2018.
IMO prime time for getting a bargain will be end of 2017 all through 2018.
Though who knows how the federal government might come to the rescue? How about PR given to any Chinese who buys a new apartment?
You're not likely to get any bargains directly off the developer. It'll be from the buyers who can't settle and the ones who can't rent their apartment and the ones who find their rental return is half what was promised.

        • @Phoebus: Yeah, I was actually thinking sometime 2019-2020 so that aligns nicely. Going by the data I've seen it looks like the only apartments that have increased in value over the last 5 years are 3 bedders! I may have to up the ante and pay more for a 3+2 and maybe even with 2Car too! Sheesh. I'd better look at getting another job and stop buying OzBargains to prepare ;) That and go back to my baked beans & tinned tuna diet I've dragged myself through before while saving for property. Works a treat though!

cheaper than paying rent in sydney

    • How I wish to disagree, but reality dictates otherwise.

    • I'm charged near on $30 for a clean on my hotel apartment in QLD after someone stays.. I'm goddamn surprised they are offering at this pricing, almost backpackers rates.

Just bought & tried to redeem - it's a bit bullshit. Quest Woolloongabba sets aside a number of 'scoopon' rooms - and when that quota is exhausted, they say sorry, you can't redeem it.

Tried 2 different Friday nights in March :/

    • Same with sales from Accor hotels. To be a "participating hotel", my presumption is that they just need one room on a particular night and they added to the list "hundreds of participating hotels".
Not worth it. Airbnb for me.

    • At least then you can get a refund from Scoopon due to no availability.

    • +1

Thanks for the heads, won't with this then.

I live nearby and would be tempted to stay a night just for the fun of it. For $49 it's pretty cheap. I stayed at Quest East Tamaki last year in Auckland and they were pretty good. Has a small kitchenette and washing machine in the room.

Whilst, compelling, something tells me booking an Everest climb on Scoopon isn't the best idea.

  • Good price but impractical for people like me who live nearby.

  • Thanks OP! I bought a couple, good for some city breaks, hope it's not too hard to get a booking on a Sat night.

  • Just made a booking at the Quest and the hotel operator said the hotel manager was not advised by scoopon $50 off deal and he would be speaking with the scoopon people tomorrow. Don't get your hopes up scoopon honouring the $50 off code.

    • You purchased the deal from Scoopon right prior to booking?

No point even mentioning the $50 code and considering use of the code appears to comply with the conditions I doubt the will cancel any existing purchases, the only thing that could potentially happen is the deal is "sold out".

      • +1

I didn't mention the $50 code, he told me they had other enquiries and the hotel did not agree to the extra $50 off.

        • +1

If I am not mistaken, why would the hotel even care since the $50 is being funded by Scoopon?

        • +1

          @wcm8382:

Pretty sure thats not how scoopon works. They don't fund the discounts, they try to use their purchasing power/etc to get businesses to lower their prices.

        • +1

@geoffellis: I understand the business model but I'm talking about the extra $50 discount with the code rather than the normal discounted price in general, which is a different matter. Are you implying that the hotel will have to partially fund this too?

        • @wcm8382:

Are you implying that the hotel will have to partially fund this too?

No they're implying they don't want to be seen as a $49 a night hotel. This will damage their reputation and may also attract some scum.

Will also be a higher number of rooms sold than they may have anticipated.

  • Thanks OP, holidays sorted.

  • Ive just purchased this and booked with the hotel for May, no problem :) thanks OP!

  • can I use multiple Coupons to book with hotel for 5 days? thanks

    • ava go and tell us

  • The website is showing $99 for a studio. Just tried and got to the credit card stage. No chance to put in the code. Am I missing something?

  • Just bought and booked for next Wednesday no problem. Thanks guys.

  • Worth it just for a place to crash after a night on the piss.

  • Booked, thanks OP.
How is parking over there? I forgot to ask the Reservation:-(

    • Each package also comes with secure parking

      • Thanks for responding. But sorry can you tell me where you get that? I cant find it on the Voucher or in the original Scopoon page.

        • It's about a third of the way down on the linked Scoopon page

        • @Wampus: Wonderful, thanks so much!

  • Just booked and the lady was lovely and happy to accept the voucher, she said that there are limited numbers per day but this weekend we were able to get in so I say call them and check the date you want first then book the voucher. Worked for me.

  • Parking at Quest is extra, $15 per night.
