MacBook Air Problem

Hi, I've bought a new MacBook Air the other day and whenever I disconnect/connect my charger, the WiFi disconnects? Is this a common problem? What can I do?

  • Doesn't sound right at all

  • What can I do?

Call Apple support and explain what is happening, they'll either know about it if it's a common fault or possibly just tell you to take it to a Genius bar at the Apple store where they can repair/replace it.

    • Don't they replace it with a recycled MacBook Air? Plus I bought it from Harvey Norman. Will Harvey Norman let me return it and get a brand new one from them ?

      • You have a problem with a brand new unit. Take it to Apple. You are afraid they will replace it with a recycled unit.

        1. If they are going to do that, then worry about it when that happens. In the meantime, what alternative is there? waiting until someone here at Ozbargain waves their wand and it fixes itself?. If someone here can fix it then the genius bar can also fix it.

        2. Apple have a 14 day return policy. so if they offer you a replacement that is NOT new, then just ask for a refund.

        3. Given 2 above I would be surprised if they didn't just give you a new unit. But spending a week here getting some well meaning advicee means your 14 days are running out.

        Apple policy

For any undamaged product, simply return it with its included accessories and packaging along with the original receipt (or gift receipt) and original packaging within 14 days of the date you receive the product and we’ll exchange it or offer a refund based upon the original payment method

  • Apparently this can happen if you have something that draws a lot of power connected to the USB port. Try it with nothing connected (like external HDD or USB Hub etc) ?

    • That's the problem, nothing was connected.

It's a feature. You paid a lot of more for it so enjoy it.

  • If you just bought it you could demand that apple/harvey Norman replace it with a new one and claim it under Dead on Arrival (DOA)

  • If I was in your position, I'd take it straight back to Apple. If you can reproduce the problem on demand, they'll take care of the rest. They'll most likely just replace it if they find it's defective
