Broken mute button iPhone 6 Plus

Hi guys
The mute button on my iPhone is broken, and while I can get around this using the accessibility features, I was wondering how hard it would be to fix myself? Has anyone had a similar problem and tried to fix it themselves?

Thanks in advance

phone has 2 years warranty, how long have you had it?

  • This phone is still under warranty - the release date was 25 September 2015 so it is still within 2 years. If purchased in Australia, make a Genius bar appointment and they will fix it properly for free (or just give you a new phone if they couldn't be bothered fixing it).

    • You're out by a year. Release date was Sept 2014.

      • Damn I read it as 6s. Either way my starting point would be the Apple store to see what they say.

        • Same, I read it as 6S aswell…

  • I don't think you should if you are already asking here. It's really small inside and I don't think it's worth the risk of breaking anything else in the process .

Have you tried flicking it on and off heaps of times? It could be just bum fluff stuck in the contacts. It happened before to my charging socket but I fixed that myself with a pin poking it all out

  • Thanks for your comments. I'll continue to use the accessibility feature and get the new one in September.

    • Playing right into their hand. They make phones that break outside the two year warranty period so you go ahead and spend another $1k on a new one rather than $100 or so fixing the actual issue and using the same phone for another two years.
