Thanks for the post. There are two things to keep in mind:
    a) This has an inbuilt battery that cannot be replaced - once the battery is stuffed you can still use as earphones but the noise cancellation is gone
    b) There is no headphone cable for this - only bluetooth; so might have an issue with some airplane sound systems.

    Review.

I have the QC20i, which I bought at a good discount from a Bose store. It might be worth asking if they will price match at this deal at the Bose Stores as they let you return them within 30 days if you aren't completely satisfied.

    • I lost my qc20's recently and looked at the QC30's, but went with the qc20's again instead. The inability to use them for long haul travel was a deal breaker for me.

      • QC20s or QC25s? The QC25s use AAA batteries, so you only need to take extras with you.

        • QC20. The rechargeable battery is good enough to get at least one leg of a long-haul flight, and almost all airlines I fly have USB ports these days anyway so I can charge them while still using them. Failing that, even without the battery they can still be used as regular non-NC earbuds.

QC30's can't be charged while in use, can't be used with a flat battery, and can't be plugged into the in-flight entertainment system.

I prefer the QC20 over QC25 as I prefer the in-ear model. You can sleep in them, they take up zero space or weight in luggage. I previously had some Sennheiser on-ear NC's and not being able to sleep in them (or not sleep comfortably) made me hate them.

        • Yup agree with braddsey - qc20's are very easy to take and use on flights (light, small, sound good). QC25s are nice but take up much more space and I can't sleep in them. Try the 25s or even the 35s and press on one of the cans as though you were sleeping on your side. They'll rumble because of mic feedback. Very annoying.

        • @braddsey: Does the NC work on the QC20 while charging? Or is the NC off while charging?

          @bohdans: Yes

@bohdans: yes NC works while charging on the QC20.

    • And how do you use the headphones without noise cancelling without batteries? It'll just die completely.

    • I do not think you need to worry about battery life. When battery dead, Bose may release QC50,60,70. Also, even you cannot use Bluetooth, the NC function still available. The big issue is that QC35 cannot plug into flight entertainment system.

I'd rather pay an extra $20 for the 35's

    • Different strokes for different folks. I have both the QC15 and the QC20i headphones and I use them for different purposes. If I am walking around listening to music then I use the QC20i as they don't take up much room and my head doesn't overheat from the overhead bar. If I'm sitting at home I use the QC15 because the battery is replaceable and their size doesn't matter. My dilemma will be next time I travel which one to take?

      • +1

Take the qc20 if you want to use them whilst you sleep. Over ear headphones just don't seem to work as well. And the portability makes a massive difference - for me anyway. I have both qc20i and 25s. 25s are better if you want people to know you're wearing expensive cans (or if you don't like in ear phones). :)

  • Shame these aren't more popular, most of the issues have been fixed. The freedom to move without wires and the controllable ANC is great when walking around in the city so you stay aware of your surroundings whilst listening to music.
Excellent price too, I paid $409 for mine :/

  • Anyone found any good deals for the QC20i?

  • QC30 is such a promising product but Bose just did not make it right.
