Cheap Smart Phone - Telstra Slim Plus or Telstra 4GX Plus or Others?

Hi,

I'm looking to purchase a cheap smart phone for my daughter costing less than $100 (calls, text, Internet browsing, some social media)

Currently considering the Telstra Slim Plus or Telstra 4GX Plus or Others (if anyone can recommend)

What are your expert views and experience with both phones and/or other cheap smart phones?

Looking for best value at that price point.

Thanks.

  • Any specific reasons why you're looking at Telstra phones?

    • No specific reason - only cause they are on special at Coles this week

      • I think you should decide what plan suits your daughter's needs and your budget best.
Then you can start talking about what device to get.

Over the life of a cheap device, the plan costs will far exceed the handset costs!

        • I'm looking at a prepaid plan - likely Telstra Long Life. Just need a phone (unlocked) if possible.

        • @kpyam2000:
Both Telstra and Optus prepaid phones tend to be locked down to only their frequencies, so even SIM unlocked phones become useless on a competitors network, especially now that the 2G networks are gone!
The 2 phones listed are quite large 5" screen models… depending on your daughter's size maybe too large?
The Samsung J1 mini could be a better option for small hands.

        • Thks. Willl look into it

  • 3 Coles and all the 4gx uses for $9 are gone!!!
