A true FABlet, good price from a reputable seller. 6.44" of goodness.

Great build quality and looks premium with a nice $3 case from here
http://s.aliexpress.com/nE3EjMJV

No Global ROM but doesn't seem to be an issue judging from the forums. Won't hop on Bandwagon 28 either.

PayPal protection and Banggood reputation is the swaying point for me after my ill experiences dealing with AliExpress and their dodgy protection which is lopsided in sellers favour even after sought evidence is provided.

CashRewards will bring it down to an almost even $300.

Should mention this also has sd652 which is fair faster than 650 in regular versions

    • Yep, great phone for the price.

  • anyone care to compare this to huawei honor note 8?performance,reliability,build quality, never used xiaomi, but this is a good price, using mate 7 now, happy with the fit and finish, looking for a bigger screen phone, narrowed down to honor note 8 or this.both have big screen which is what I want, both have good battery.
    what Im looking for is:fast phone(no gaming,mainly web,video chat,video streaming),stable system,GOOD fit and finish,not too fussed about camera,

The Huawei has a higher res screen. Hard to compare cpu as they're different, but you might find a comparison site somewhere. Not sure if either do all 4G frequencies in Aust.

This phone is awesome for the period I had mine before going to the Mi Mix

    • The Mix worth the extra cash you think?

      • Yes and no ($800 is a lot for no warranty but it's so unique I'm happy with the gamble.)

        • Where did you buy it?

        • @jamestownfx:
          Aliexpress

        • @jbnz:

This seller? (Concerned by others comments in this thread about this seller)

  • This tablet even has phone functionality. Probably should add that to the description.

got the 32GB version for dad, great device, the screen res is more than enough for most, that's iphone level already, size not very good for pocket in pants.. battery can last upto 3 days and more than enough for one day heavy use from morning to night after hours of photo taking

    • I'm thinking of the same for my mum though. Is this global rom comment something to worry about? Will be switching her from my old Samsung Note 3.

      • the one I got already have latest stable rom pushing, that's before my xiaomi mi5 flagship

Have had the 32gb version for past 2 months and

should I buy this or note 8!!!

      • +1

        This.

        • Whats your reason?

        • +3

          @028:
Well, it depends I guess. Got money to burn and just don't care? Wait for Note 8 or get some other high end/cost phone in the $700 - $1000 area. Mi Max is just an amazing phone for the price. The size, quality and just overall experience are amazing. Cameras are OK and battery life is very good. What I love though is the size. However, it depends on what you want. I bought one myself, loved it so much, bought my wife one as well. She thinks it is great as well.

@tessel: talking about huawei note 8,similar price to mi max,sub 500

        • @028:
$300 to $500 some may or may not consider that "similar". But good point. Thanks.

It's called Xiaomi Mi Max Prime

    Or am I mistaken?

    • or, nick name "Halogen" and 32GB version for "Hydrogen".

Please advise what is Global Rom? What is the disadvantage of not having global rom? Thinking to buy one but bit confused! !! If the global rom is must have…can we flash it ourself? Once flashed does it have ota update or need to update manually each time?

    Love my Mi Max.
Three other friends got it too after handling it and happy with it.
Absolutely great value for the price!

    • why would you flash the board - I mean root it? Is there any advantage of doing so.. Are you not taking risk with a brand new phone?

      • hmm i read on this site http://xiaomitips.com/guide/how-to-spot-fake-miui-rom-on-you… is say fake rom , i download MIUI from official download page and flash it now i got a stable rom with 4 digits number and no More CN on miui version
