[Victoria] Please Recommend Me a Reputable Mechanic for 2003 Honda Accord

Hello everyone! My car is due for a major service(160k km). I usually get it serviced at my local Honda dealership. They quoted me for $1680, provided nothing is broken.

Upon reading up on Whirlpool they suggest that people should take their car to a reputable mechanic who knows Honda well, especially when the car is this old. I am located in Tullamarine, Victoria.

TLDR: 14yo Honda Accord needs a major service done, recommend me a reputable local mechanic.

Not exactly Tullamarine, but at least on the correct side of the city for you: Moroney's Service Station in Essendon.

Been going to them for years, I can't guarantee they're the cheapest - but they do a good job, do what they say they'll do, and don't over-service.

Certainly worth phoning for a quote.

  • That's an easy car to service. Any half decent mechanics can do.

    • Not if its the V6 version

      • you must've been brainwashed by your local honda dealer, my local mechanic never complained when I took my v6 accord in for service, might cost another extra 2 sparkplug.

        • I've done the plugs on a v6 accord, the left bank is jammed up against the firewall, not brainwashed at all. Personal experience

        • @JOCKz:

I called up for a quote at the place Xyzzy suggested. Lovely staff member also informed me that it is indeed more expensive for the v6….he said ~$35 more if I heard him correctly. He quoted around $800 for the service.

  • If you can afford the price Honda is quoting, I recommend going with them. 1060 isn't expensive considering the price of oem parts.

      It's $1680.

  • I would recommend getting the auto gearbox oil changed too, Honda didn't make the gearboxes strong enough for the v6 motors. Lots of failures on 2nd gear. They installed a oil squirter over 2nd, so if it's been serviced at the dealership. Should already be installed. But cheap insurance to have the oil changed at regular intervals
