Redmi Note 3 Pro 'kate' - Missing Incoming Calls

Hi all

Hope you're all well. I am having issues with my Note 3 Pro Special Edition and I just wanted to see if anyone has experienced a similar problem.

This issue started a few weeks ago. I am unable to receive calls and texts on my phone. It is always in a good signal area on 4G (Amaysim, so Optus network). I rarely turn my mobile data on and rely on wifi most of the time. If I want to receive calls, I have to 'activate' the phone by dialling any number (giving my sister a missed call, say) and I'd start to get a flood of texts that have been sent to me when the device was inactive.

Please note that I use the phone occasionally throughout the day (mostly fiddling with apps, so wifi data connection), so it wasn't like I left the phone there for a long time.

Users in this thread have reported the same problem with no fix: http://en.miui.com/thread-273293-1-1.html

Any Redmi Note 3 Pro SE owners with a similar problem? Normally you wouldn't notice this problem until someone asks you whether you've turned off your phone or not.

Thank you!

  • I have a Redmi3 (non-note) and I have an issue where I don't receive SMS from people, unless I have recently sent them an SMS first.

Haven't noticed any issue with not receiving calls - but it may be occurring.

It's hard/impossible to troubleshoot this, as these phones aren't technically meant to be sold in Australia. Good luck.

    • Yeah that's a shame. Would've been one of the major deciding factors if I'd known before purchasing. What good is a phone when it can't receive calls!

Is there an option to disable 4g and just try if 3G works?

    • I'll try that - thanks!

Sounds like your mobile locks iteself into 4g only and not moving from one to another.

How is your 3g network signal strength?

Possibly a sim card issue or network issue I have had this problem before and it was a known optus network issue when they were rolling out 4g. The sims would lock on 4g and that was it until you put it in flight mode and then back off flight mode.

    • Does this mean for Optus, calls & texts are sent through 3g rather than 4g? I've heard something along those lines a while ago (not related to the Redmi).

I'd say my 3g signal strength fluctuates a bit. It's half the bars most of the time. I get one bar or full bars sometimes. I live in a Melbourne suburb so signal's usually not an issue.

      Thanks.

      • Calls only come through via 2g and 3g and texts too but mms has to use data to receive them.

Do a quick test rather then make the call to initiate the phone yo use 3g or gsm put it into flight mode then bak off and see how it reacts.

        How old is your sim?

        • Thanks for your answer. I've set my phone to 'prefer 3g'. The SIM card isn't old at all - about 6-7 months old.

I'll try that and see how it goes. Thanks!

  • I have this problem as well, I'm on Telstra, but it appears to be an issue globally with this phone.
