Legend of Zelda Question: Are The 3Ds Titles Stylus Control Only?

hey guys, I'm thinking about trying a LoZ 3DS game. Are the 3DS games stylus controlled only like with the Spirit Tracks and Phantom Hourglass? that was a tad annoying for me back then. Also, what's your favourite LoZ 3DS title? would love some recs :)

  • None of the 3DS titles are stylus controlled.

    • yeah, you'd be lucky if they even use half of the buttons. so many buttons on that thing.

    Favourite 3DS Zelda? Let's start by listing them all;
    Ocarina of Time 3D
    A Link Between Worlds
    Hyrule Warriors Legends
    Majora's Mask 3D
    Tri Force Heroes

    Hyrule Warriors doesn't really count.
Ocarina is probably the most popular Zelda game of all time, I couldn't really get into it myself though.
I will say it's a well made remaster, same with Majora's Mask.
Link Between Worlds is a bit of a remake too, of A Link to the Past on SNES but they added extra gimmicks. I haven't played it but it looks okay.
I don't know much about Tri Force Heroes but it looks multiplayer focused.

  • If you're looking to get started in Zelda, play either Ocarina of Time or Link Between Worlds. Don't play Majora's Mask until you've played Ocarina - it has a higher beginning difficulty, as I think it assumes that you're already familiar with OoT (the starting area in OoT is very relaxed and easy).

Hyrule Warriors is not a Zelda game at all. Triforce Heroes is only fun if you have two friends or family members willing to play it with you. By yourself isn't much fun, online isn't much fun and it's impossible to play with only one other person.

  • I've played them all.
Ocarina of Time 3D is a classic, and if you want to play Majora's Mask, play this first.
Majora's Mask 3D is the best if you like slightly creepy scenarios and an interesting, cohesive world.
A Link Between Worlds is good if you prefer the overhead view like on the SNES and GB games.
Hyrule Warriors can be fun if you have a New Nintendo 3DS, but it plays like garbage on the old 3DSs. Wii U version is much better, but anyway you can check it out because there's a free demo.
Tri Force Heroes also has (had?) a free demo. It's no fun unless you have two friends with it. I didn't even finish this one, and sold it.

    MM is my favourite, personally.

    • Remember when Nintendo wasn't afraid to experiment with their second biggest moneymaker franchise, and put heaps of sad stories and creepy situations in a kid's game.

And now, with BotW being pretty great, they're showing aren't afraid to experiment again. Yays :D But they probably will be afraid to change again for the next 6 titles until people start calling them out on 'formula' again. And then when they bring out the Nintendo Eye that only has one game and you need to remove one of your real eyes in order to play it, they'll change the formula again.

MM is probably my favourite Zelda game too, despite Ocarina usually getting all the praise, because Majora showed that the Zelda franchise can reach further than "ganon + princess = triforce o no".

Ocarina of time and majoras mask are popular 3DS LoZ games, but they never go on sale and usually are around 50-60 bucks. Just buy a 3DS rom card to download some Zelda games and see which one you like.
