Japan in October - Review of Itinerary Please

Hey all :) I know there's been a few Japan threads flying around, and I've checked out a lot of them and taken them into consideration in planning my next Japan trip (last 2 weeks of October).
Background info: 3 girls going; 1 has never been to Japan, 1 has been on a school exchange and didn't get to explore outside of the school much, and 1 (me) has been on holiday before for 2 weeks during Winter.

I put the itinerary into a Google doc:
We will be getting a 7 day JR pass for the second week, which should cover Tokyo -> Kyoto -> Tokyo -> Narita Airport.

Would anyone care to make suggestions to the list? We're open to anything, and know that in the end things probably won't go exactly to plan, like with almost everything else in life. We'd appreciate any input :)

Additional note: none of us can ride a bike *hides from embarrassment.

  • 1 suggestion i would consider is Narita Access Bus to Tokyo/Ginza for 1000yen then train from tokyo/ginza to Shinjuku(about 300yen i think).
Use those savings for fast passes at FujiQ. =D

  • For ozbargain point of view, If you go to FujiQ while JR pass is valid, you would save about 5000yen of train fee. For example, you can swap the plan and go there on 28 Oct.

    • Oh great point! I didn't even think of that~ thanks for the tip

Beware of weekend crowds. It can get pretty packed.

        • That's a good point.

    enjoy it. japan is amazeballs.

  • Hey that's about the same time as I am planning to go (Late Oct-Nov) to catch the Autumn leaves season since I went around the Cherry Blossom season last time.
Judging from your current itinerary it seem you are more city gal/sight seeing bunch than the nature walk type, so here's a pretty good site that list some events that are going on in October:

    https://tokyocheapo.com/events/october/

There's the Roppongi Art Night (although last year it was around 21-23 Oct), Tokyo Ramen Show (27 Oct - 6 Nov last year), and a bunch of Halloween events that are all free.

Pity about the bike thing, riding around the Sagano/Arashiyama area in Kyoto was one of the best experience on our last trip but hey you have 7 months to learn right?

    • Thanks for the link :) The ramen show sounds awesome, so I hope we can go to that!
